10cc – The Original Soundtrack

A band at their peak, full of original, clever ideas and very catchy tunes. The Original Soundtrack is a wonderful album and 50 years old today. The highlight is of course ‘I’m Not In Love’ which still sounds astonishing half a century on and as others have pointed out, is a longer than the single version. I have a copy of the original UK pressing and it sounds wonderfully clear. Highly recommended.

Just got this for $20 in mint condition. So glad I didn’t have to pay the above prices. Pays to look around…

Anyone knows if this version had the printed insert with lyrics?

When I read the description of the 2010 SACD, it states that the tapes used were Japanese domestic tapes, not the UK tapes. Anyone know which description is correct? The SACD or is this CD release a new transfer from the UK tapes? Thanks!

Great pressing full of life, clear high end, warm vocals, stereo seperation is the best to test your system amp. Vinyl is flat, quiet between tracks and thick maybe 140-150 gr. Gatwfold cover made with thick carboard, well printed and glued. Really like the sounds, might compete a Uk!

Summer 1975... the first time I heard the album version of "I'm Not In Love" which was/is so beautiful...

Breathtaking Dutch pressing of this wonderful album. Throughout the whole album you will be treated to an impressive stereo image. The sound fx used are just mesmerizing. Vocals are up front in the mix and all sound very clear. Hi-hats and toms are impressive although the drum lacks punch in the bombastic chorus of Un Nuit A Paris. Acoustic guitars very thin and low in the mix (very 10cc-like). That all being said this is a very good opportunity to get a more than decent pressing of this record for just a couple of euros.

Of course, "I'm not in love" is the big hit, but the rest of 10cc's The Original Soundtrack, while certainly more obscure, is an adventure in eclectic soundscapes. The quality of this 1975 pressing is surprisingly good, and the mastering is clean and clear. Many of the tracks feature highs that are recorded with a great deal of clarity which I found quite pleasant. While I doubt The Original Soundtrack is going to be everyone's cup of tea, I found it to be fun and weirdly enjoyable.
