Standard black vinyl rocks all the time for me. Its crystal clear with good dynamics. No surface noise whatsoever and dint even give it a clean. Dont know what others complaining about. I never get why people buys the colored vinyl and than complains. OTOT I have many colored vinyl from dead oceans and never came across bad pressing issue. I guess im lucky or people have better understanding for vinyls.
Most importently, This album is A+++- i really love this album! saw her live in munich yesterday.. if you have a chance, go and get your tickets.. it was an awesome show in a very small club..
the pressing.. well.. its dead oceans.. a guarantee for noisy pressings.. i don't have one flawless release from them.. it really is a shame.. i mean.. its not unlistenable, but somewhar crackly here and there.. i have two copies of this variant . one is slightly better, but still the same faults in general - Edited one year agoThe sound is great, but my disc was pretty scuffed and noisy toward the end of side 1. It's hard to tell with the clear vinyl but I think there are actual scratches and scuff marks. Even after a brush and a wet clean, the noise is still there. Hopefully I can get a replacement, but I've just had terrible experiences with Dead Oceans pressings recently. It's a shame because I really love this album.
Update: Dead Oceans sent me a replacement pretty quickly and it's noticeably better. Still some noise as others have said, but definitely listenable. - Mine really needed a good clean, after that the pressing is ok. Still a bit noisy in parts, but not too distracting. Warm sound, beautiful album.
- subtle and excellent, the guitarist shimmers throughout, great playing while staying in the groove of the record....Joe Sherrin is his name.
