I'm guessing this second edition is the one I used to have on cassette. I've recently heard both the first and third edition versions of "Disengage", and neither of the opening vocal lines on those are quite what I remember. This album really grated on me when I first heard it as a teen, but I found myself continually coming back to it for a listen as I got older. The version of Here Comes the Flood here warrants the purchase, in any case.- I'm a big vinyl fan...however...this SHM CD totally blows away all the vinyl versions i have. Way more depth and detail. Slamming drums. You can hear vibrato on the bass guitar! Hammer hitting bass drum. There is a drone throughout Disengage that you can't hear on vinyl. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.

I am listening to my first edition (bought in late 1981) pressing and of course very clean and dynamic range. I am a Fripp fan but not needing all. Saw King Crimson 2017 and they (Fripp) didn't let me down. - Fantastic pressing. The bass on Chicago really thumps. Frippertronics needs a quiet background, and this pressing delivers..
- Sounds incredible. Dynamic, clean. What a mix, and terrific record. It led me to explore more RP late 70’s work.
- Edited 2 years agoNearly flawless, flat, stunningly quiet 200 g pressing.... Except my copy has some sort of pressing flaw in the side two of disc 1... The first 30 seconds of the first song has a rhythmic click with no visible flaw or scratch on the vinyl...aaaarrrgggghhhh... I assume it's only on my copy as I haven't seen anybody else report any similar problems, and it's a complete shame too, because this is truly a masterclass in vinyl reissues, a beautifully produced double LP... Trounces the original EG version of the first edition vinyl. Fripp's most bizarre and eclectic record by far... With Peter Gabriel's stunning second version of "Here Comes the Flood"... The third edition vinyl sides are also very revealing, not quite sure if that was ever released on vinyl originally. In fact it's kind of interesting to wonder what sort of response LP would have gotten if that version has been released in 1979... The first side sounds almost conventional with the original Daryl Hall vocals restored, and a fair amount of additional clarity on the mixes.
Would love to hear if anybody else has a flawed version of the second side of the first disc...this pressing is otherwise so good I'm tempted just to buy another copy, the idea of which is verging on OCD behavior... Arguably, sitting around listening to Robert Fripp's "Exposure" album on newly pressed vinyl in 2022 could be considered fairly OCD behavior on its own... - An historic work, a mix of KC, New Wave, Pop & Rock n roll; another path given by Robert Fripp in the music world

From the liner notes, "Remixed to Sony digital stereo system by Brad Davies and Robert Fripp at Marcus Studios, London." No issues with the sound on this release. An indulgent foray into commercialism from the Fripp perspective. E X P O S U R E, it is impossible to acheive the aim without suffering. referencing Exposure (LP, Album, Remixed) EGLP 41
This “second edition” is a remix of the original album. “But why remix it”?, you might ask. I suppose the number one reason is “Because Robert Fripp could”. Since Fripp owns the record company he could do pretty much anything he wants to. Ask any musician whether they are happy with the mix of their album that they recorded 5 years ago and I bet a large number of them would jump at the chance of remixing their recording. Is this second mix better than the first? Opinions might vary, but objectively lots of the full band tracks, in other words, the tracks with drums DO sound “better” - especially the drums, which are more dynamic, have more slam, and are louder. Also the vocals sound clearer and louder, in fact everything sounds a bit cleaner and more intelligible. Not drastically, but I notice it. Did this album NEED to be remixed? No. Does it sound better, in some places, yes. MUST you acquire this 2nd version? I did, but I’m a very devoted Fripp fan. A nut. I try to hear and have everything he recorded, to the best of my ability (and wallet). I have the third edition, too, on a double LP that includes the original version.
