- This record is so good I have three different pressings. This Jacksonville pressing is as good as any of the other ones in my collection. Triumvirat's Spartacus is one of the all time great prog records of all time. I actually prefer them to ELP at times and that's taking nothing away from ELP because I love them, but Spartacus remains one of my top prog records.

This came with a double-sided lyric inner sheet.
Black with blue text.- Prog rock for the pop set? There are plenty of melodies scattered throughout the grooves, the songs aren't too terribly long or heavy on bombast, and the three suites manage to hold interest. But this just isn't my thing. This pressing sounds fine, instruments and vocals are all clear and well defined, with good range from top to bottom. My copy is very clean, with virtually no noticeable surface noise.

One of the best albums from the 1970's and there was not an overabundance of them! If you like ELP dig this! - I like very much this album. I discover this band by a work colleague and I never heard about it before. Be sure to have this album if you Genesis, Gentle Giant or jazz progressive rock.

While "Illusions on a double Dimple" (seemingly a typical "Denglish" translatory mistake) is a record that brought me joy, I had serious difficulties to listen through this one here. Apart from it being boring musicwise, engeneering is boring too, it sounds as if the band lacked ideas and the producers decided on something shallow for the mainstream audience.
To label this "prog rock" is certainly wrong in my ears, I'd call it "elevator music", the kind of stuff that can be played as background noise in awkward situations without anyone noticing or getting irritated.
One encounters many times such huge gaps between one record and a follow up, this here is one of the largest I have come across.referencing Spartacus (LP, Album, Stereo) 1C 062-29 567
Another high quality progressive rock album from Triumvirat. Often called a sound similar to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Triumvirat sounds less annoying and more relaxing to my ears. "The Sweetest Sound of Liberty" also sounds quite sweet, like prog pop rather than prog rock. Most prog-heads naturally prefer the title track, "The March to the Eternal City" and "The School of Instant Pain" to the rest of the material. I disagree, even though the long ones aren't as boring as that type of numbers sometimes tend to be. "The Hazy Shades of Dawn" is probably my least favorite cut on the album. But most of the time, Spartacus is a good listen - not necessarily the best Triumvirat album ever, but close enough.referencing Spartacus (LP, Album, Reissue) 1C 072-29 567

Very tight prog rock with loads of synths and huge major-to-minor power chords. Vocals are on point and there's loads of movement change within each track. Decent production with big sound. Has groove, depth and rocks out. - Edited 8 years agoDR value of 8, release Harvest – 7243 5 35163 2 1
