Just rescuing my copy. Aged well. I’d consigned it to the junk pile … oops… the DJ Hell remix of West End Girls is terrific. Picked up a few electro housey things bouncing around 2004, but this is superior

Track B "West End Girls (DJ Hell Remix)" on this promo is the full unedited version, 1 minute 40 seconds longer than the version released on the commercial 12inch for "Flamboyant".

Can anyone explain the matrix numbers for this release please? They look like EMI UK runouts - the format (12RDJ 6629 A-1-1-1) and the font/spacing match the many EMI-pressed records I own from the 80s and 90s - but my understanding is that the EMI plant had shut down years before this came out. To make matters worse, I have the commercial 12" of this release and it was clearly pressed at Record Industry in the Netherlands. Help!

Edit: think I've figured it out, it must have been pressed by the same facility when it was run by these folks: https://www.discogs.com/label/476195-Portal-Space

The two best mixes of one of the best Pet Shop Boys singles... What's not to like?

The DJ Hell Remix for me is superb, he keeps all the best elements of the original catchy but classy pop song and tastefully turns it into a slightly deep (but not boring) electro house track. I have ended house/techno style sets with it and everyone of all ages sings along. It does have a novelty factor about it but PSBoys always did. Timeless happy party song to my ears

Got it for the Tomcraft Extended mix (which is superb) but I have to admit the DJ Hell mix has grown on me quite a bit. I'd classify CD2 of this set as essential PSB.

I didn't believed a release from 2004 would be one of my favourite Pet Shop Boys songs ever. Important and well written lyrics, together will a very cool rhytm, makes this song on of my favourites from 2004. Excellent elements from synth pop, house, dance, electro; this song isn't easy to classify. However i would categorize it under synth pop.
