Quiet vinyl. I heard a few light clicks at the close of Side A and maybe some very slight surface noise at the start of the same side. Otherwise, it was pretty well silent. Musically, this is wonderful...Sonny Stitt at his considerable best. This sounds really good, but I wouldn't call it an audiophile release. The soundstage is narrow. If you really concentrate while you are listening, you can place the instruments onstage, but at first hearing, it sounds like Stitt in one channel and the rest of the band in the other. The audience is quiet and the instruments are recorded well. The sound is clear and you can distinctly hear the gymnastics Sam Jones is performing on the bass. The packaging is beautiful and there is a nice booklet with striking photos of Stitt. This was still on the shelf at my local records store about a week and a half after RSD and, at $50 for two LPs, I am very glad I picked it up. referencing Boppin' In Baltimore: Live At The Left Bank (2×LP, Record Store Day, Limited Edition, Numbered) DDJD-010
OMG! Sonny and the band is on 🔥 here! It's a live recording, but the sound on this recording is really good.
Both discs are flat and has no disturbing surface noise.
Highly recommended set!
