Putting more than 13 minutes on one side of the 12inch and 6 minutes on the other doesn't make sense. "I Get Excited" should have been pressed on side 2 with the dance mix of Heart, hence giving space for the disco mix to breathe, on its own on side 1. It looks like a rushed job has been done in the cutting room.

I've got a copy of this from a seller who bought it new in week of release back in November '93, but the CD matches the 1988 issue in every way (matrix numbers, print etc) aside from the slight difference in the width of the silver area by the hub, and the fact it's unaffected by CD rot (which my 1988 original is). Based on the slight difference around the hub area alone, I'd say the disc was manufactured in 1993 rather than just being old stock that was sold in the new sleeve, but I'm at a loss as to why it appears to be from the 1988 glass master, with the dash and dot in the matrix numbers rather than colons, the large plain mirrored area outside the playing region, and the lack of any of the additional markings listed here. Any ideas?!

My copy has a black plastic "45 rpm adaptor" piece in the center hole.

The album version of "Heart" is 120bpm. The single remix and Disco Mix are 122.5bpm. The Shep Pettibone Dance Mix is 121.5bpm. Interestingly, on the "Actually" Further Listening disc, the Disco Mix is 120bpm which explains why it's approximately 10-seconds longer than the same mix on the CD-single.

I assume when it was chosen to be a single, the Disco Mix was created and then someone (the band?) decided the tempo should be increased a bit, so the master tape was pitched up slightly. It does make the song feel a bit more insistent at 122.5bpm. When I listen to the Further Listening Disco Mix, it always feels a smidge sluggish, which is what led me to look into the disparities in BPM's.

All other appearances of the Single Remix are at the 122.5bpm, so it was clearly intended and not just a mastering error on a few releases.

Is there a decent twelve inch mix that’s more musical rather than percussive and dance oriented?

Hi, is there a Vinyl-release of this Shep Pettibone Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wus7oKy9TlY
Am I too blind to find it?
                Thanks a lot!

The single mix of Heart is absolutely superb, building upon the already great album version and giving more of a kick. Too bad it did nothing in the US charts, it has all the right elements to be a huge dance chart hit here, but alas, not everything can go right in this world (would of helped if EMI actually released it as a single here). The music video is one of my favorites, based off the seminal film "Nosferatu", and has Dracula singing and dancing around, can't go wrong with that.
