Stasis – Circuit Funk

The original is differentiated from the 2018 repress by the inclusion of the barcode on the B-side label artwork. The barcode is absent on the original as is the www web address. The original had contact telephone numbers and address on the label and also came in a colour spined sleeve that matched the colour of the outer ring on the label.

Barcodes and sleeves are a good way to spot any of the recent Peacefrog represses from the originals. This is a great EP by the way !

Originally lent to me by a member of The Higher Intelligence Agency, who lived upstairs from me in the early 90s. I didn't appreciate techno at the time, but this was different, like space funk from the future, which opened up a whole new world of music for me. The synths and metallic, flanged drum sounds Steve used on this sounded very distinctive at the time and still sounds fresh and unique today. Seems to be steadily gaining value, but I will probably never sell it.

This is one of my favourite Stasis releases, which is saying a lot as he has always kept quality control high on his output. It is quirky, dreamy, spacey yet still kicking enough for a floor. Well recommended!!

Steve Pickton is such a beast. Can't recommend this record enough. B1 is so so good.

Feinmelter...you lucky b**tard! The first time I went record shopping, my mum insisted on coming with me..."Ohh that's not nice...what about this?" Anyway, I digress, Peacefrog is Luke Slater's label, if you don't know him he's a UK musician ("Oh my gawd! Techno frum Ingerland!")...my advice, get acquainted! If you were a "proper" Techno head in the early 90's, and you saw the 'Frog,' it was a sure thing...no need to listen, straight in the bag! This is no exception, beautifully done from start to finish...top quality deep brooding techno. I'm not sure if I believe in "Faceless Techno bollocks" or giving credit where credit is due, but both this label it's manager and artists appearing on it where/are making magic. These tunes are real gifts...listen to them, love them!

This was my first record ever. I dont know what or who peacefrog and stasis is. Now I know it. I think also the "Mnemic Image" is the greatest song, perhaps from stasis.

It dawned on me this year how important Mr Steve Pickton really is! I think that the perfect musician never makes a mistake and on his every release of back catalogue is pure perfection in production!
I’ve picked out "Mnemic Image" as at the moment i can’t stop playing it! Imagine you’re in this Bar on a spaceship in a different universe and there’s this space dude in a white suit playing electronic calypso bubble music! And all the aliens in the room are grooving out... nope that’s just me being a freak!!!
Absolute classic and always will be!
