Don't listen to the naysayers on this one. This is actually a wonderful remake of an original track played by Ron Hardy at the Muzic Box. It consisted of an eerie synth over a drum track while vocal snippets of "Love & Happiness" by First Choice and Al Green played over it. Great stuff! There have been many tracks over the years that have either been influenced by or have paid homage to the original including DJ Pierre's "Love Trax", Two Of A Kind's "Happiness", Risqué III's "Risqué Madness" and, more recently, Steve Summers "Dreaming In Color" just to name a few. Even the Chicago WBMX jocks would play their own unreleased versions in the mixes back in the day.
To say that the track was massive is an understatement so it doesn't surprise me that many years later there are still folks trying to capture the magic of Ron Hardy's original (which was never officially released, although a dodgy bootleg did pop up a few years ago). This particular version comes damn close to replicating it, plus it features both the vocal version and the instrumental for those who just want to play the backing track. Don't loose your time with this uninspiring retake unless you'd wish to re-jack the warehouse, go straight to the deep soul source, performed in 1973 by First Choice and written by Al Green & Mabon "Teenie" Hodges. referencing Love & Happiness (12", 45 RPM) RH VD 3
This record is a cover of "DJ Pierre - Love Trax" (1992).
