The Wailers – The Best Of The Wailers

apparently recorded just about on the cusp of their transition, these are some great versions of some of the usual familiar songs, + a few Excellent songs that aren't quite as ubiquitous. underrated album, in my opinion.

I’m not sure if this is a bootleg, all songs are credited to R Marley. Bob would put writing credits under different names within his circle to avoid paying tax on royalties.

This is the album that Bunny Wailer placed a curse on Leslie Kong for releasing. Leslie Kong never lived to see its release.

The EQ on this release is heavy in the vocal frequencies, and the bass is much quieter than on the original release and the recent 45 RPM vinyl reissue. It actually sounds pretty cool, like you're hearing it on a transistor radio.

Rare/unknown “lost” album from the early era of the Wailers. This album is the same of the “Best of the Wailers” released in the 70s. It is not a compilation but actually an album of early unreleased recordings. Produced by Leslie Kong, mislabeled as “King” on the back of record. This is the same reggae/ska producer who first released Bob’s and The Wailers first recordings in Jamaica. Great early sound, quality is not excellent but a great addition for any fan.

Not a compilation - an early album by The Wailers recorded in 1970 produced by Leslie Kong, released on Beverley's Records. Earnest, spiritual & melodic reggae - perhaps their best LP pre-Island/Tuff Gong records. The sounds of reggae as found in its homeland. Tuff stuff!

Would be interested to see the matrix run out for this pressing. Should be the same as the reissue. BLP 11.

This is a great reissue of this classic and underrated Wailers album, "Best of the Wailers." The music sounds phenomenal, and is very well presented in a gatefold jacket and generic sleeve. My only gripe is that the photo featured in the gatefold inside cover is from a much later period of Bob Marley & the Wailers on tour in England, which doesn't really suit this earlier 1971 release. A very odd choice that I noticed. However, I realize that is a small gripe and certainly not enough to stop you from picking up this great sounding and presented reissue! Highly recommended from me.

My copy plays perfect without pops etc and good sound quality!
