Hard to say if the remaster made much difference. I’ve played both and it’s hard to tell. I can’t speak for the black vinyl, but I have two copies of the yellow, and both are mildly warped and plagued with surface noise. All that said, glad to see they’ve brought this back for the world to enjoy, it’s the best LP to come out of the DC scene ever, and that’s saying a lot.

This is my favorite record of all time, across all genres. I’m grabbing this one in the house fire. The guitar tone is angelic. The production is peerless. Absolutely not a single note wasted. It’s the DC sound, distilled into a fifty caliber bullet.

I WAITED FOR this band (named after a song on HOOVER's 1993 "This Lurid Traversal of Route 7" LP) to make a full length - checking the bins and scouring online catalogs for a year. With their seismic heavy bass groove and razor sharp guitar splice (Alex Dunham ex-HOOVER) of workingman grit that they generated on previous efforts ("the mercury ep" or the 7" "New Low Moline") still in tact - one thing becomes glaringly apparent - their format of shouting lyrics while pummeling you with rush hour riffs and FBI basstones doesn't work quite as well in the full length format. But that's not to say that this LP doesn't have great songs on it. If only they were to have left a few on the basement floor, that's all.

They open with "Mercurochrome" a head banging barn dance that grabs your attention right away. Trudge through four songs to get to "Pemberton Red" with it's catchy riff then intermit with a 58 second instrumental breather ("Chechero") setting the mood for the second half starting with "Eleven" an emotive breakup song with few words saying a lot: 'Packed bags again / Let her / Stroll in stride out ....' Trudge through a coupla more slower numbers until another 41 second instrumental "Halifax Hellbound" teases us finally ending with the divining rod "Witchduck" - harDCore deposits abound reminding us why we're listening in the first place.

This album rules. A very influential album for me and I'm sure many others.
