It’s worth noting that this single release from Kool
is the only one that officially has Summer Madness on a 12” 45 RPM side. Most greatest hit albums and the original release on Light of Worlds has the song squished near the end. It makes a great difference as you can hear the music breathe a lot more with the spread out grooves on this release. Highly recommend getting a copy of this just to have the iconic instrumental on a 45 RPM 12” single.
Also, Get Down on It is a choice cut from their early 80’s revival, but it gets better: play that cut at 33 1/3 RPM instead of 45 for a Barry White/Issac Hayes P-Funk jam: https://youtu.be/798_Okk8XW0?si=sutPtp80niLSizNG
Source is digital but the sound of this pressing is very good.Summer madness is outstanding!
AA Side successfully samples Kool & The Gang's classic "Summer Madness" -- I've never stopped playing this hidden gem on the flipside of this secret weapon record. Recommended if found for decent price ;)
