Show All 57 Reviews- It sounds pretty good. A pressing splitting it up onto 2 records would probably be better, but this isn't too bad. Not even as close to being as dynamic as most of the other Radiohead albums, unfortunately, but this is still good for what you pay for. If anything, it could definitely sound a LOT worse

Outstanding sounding hot-wax, with an incredibly spacious soundstage & whisper-quiet vinyl. One of those albums that should have come with a hit of LSD, but you can't win them all...- I A/B tested the GZ vs RI. There is really not material difference, they both sound great.
set-up: AT-120 > VMN95EN MM cartridge > Schitt MAGNI > AT-M50x headphones.
TL;DR
several vinyl LPs in RH's catalogue are what I describe as night and day when different pressings are compared against each other. ie Parlophone > Capital pressings, first pressing of Amnesiac vs anything else, Kid A '16 XL UE > XL US.
I do NOT believe TKOL is currently in this camp. If you have a '11 pressing of this LP and you enjoy it, keep it. I ended up keeping the GZ pressing since my I thought it had a slight edge in clarity of highs on some tracks. I could be crazy though
Bloom
GZ: during the first half of the song there is a small rotational click (this occurs on both pressings). otherwise very quiet sound floor. there is some slight increased sound floor towards the last 10-15 seconds, this doesn't last as it's dead quite once Mr Magpie hits.
RI: same rotational click in first half of song. The last 10-15 seconds on this pressing may be a lower sound floor.
result: for me it was EVEN. i wrote down that possibly the GZ pressing may produce a better presentation of highs, but that may be bias of having this pressing for so long.
Mr Magpie
GZ: absolutely dead quiet intro. lower sound floor once Thom's vocal's kick in during the start of the bridge. mildly increased sound floor during the outro - equal for both pressings.
RI: see above
result: EVEN
Little By Little
GZ: before music starts there is a mild sound floor that becomes unnoticeable once music starts. there is a slightly increased sound floor at the end of the song that continues into the start of Feral
RI: same as above
result: EVEN
Feral
GZ: the highs are crisper, but bass appears to be less that vs RI
RI: the highs don't appear to match that of GZ pressing, but the pass has a little more punch to it.
result: sound floor was equal for both. I personally prefer how the GZ pressing sounds. I guess EVEN
Lotus Flower
GZ: mildly increased sound floor vs previous tracks and sides, that does not take away from enjoyment of song. Outro slightly decreased sound floor vs intro and middle.
RI: same as above
results: EVEN, there is no clear winner
Codex:
GZ: same level of sound floor as Lotus Flower, GZ pressing may have a slight increased floor vs RI. Decreased sound floor during out when "The water's clear and innocent" kicks in.
RI: same level of sound floor as Lotus Flower. mildly decreased sound floor during intro vs GZ, but mildly increase sound floor during outro as per above.
results: EVEN, there is no clear winner
Give Up The Ghost:
GZ: improved sound floor vs Codex, still slightly increased vs tracks on side A & B. this increased sound floor has no impact on listening to Thom's vocals, as this is a soft song overall. sound floor decreases through the outro.
RI: same
results: EVEN, no clear winner
Separator:
GZ: the intro's sound floor is slightly increased vs the side's prior track Give Up The Ghost. Once the guitar kicks in, not dead quite floor, but very enjoyable and crisp sounding ie does not detract from the song. the synths during the outro are up front, highs are detailed, bass kicks may be pulled back.
RI: sound floor is the same as GZ throughout the song. bass hits a little harder throughout, but clarity may not be as strong vs GZ pressing
results: basically EVEN. if you like defined highs and don't care about bass, then GZ maybe? - Edited 4 months ago

I bought a new copy of this record factory sealed. There's a lot of light scratches at both sides. Before listening I've cleaned it with my spin clean just to be sure that it's clean from dust. The record has so many clicks and pops that it's impossible to listen to it, especially songs like codex. Very bad pressing. - Edited 5 months agoThe sound and mastering is really great and impressive for a one disc! 5 copies heared, seamsplit cover and ois + often scratches from pressing parts on b2/b3 and little dish warped- so two stars.

Noisy but getting better with repeated cleaning. Nice 180 disc.- Bought unopened mint GZ Media newspaper edition for only $50. I was hoping it was actually the Record Industries pressing w less surface noise I read about (which was how it was sold to me) but alas I am stuck with the GZ Media. There are def a lot of surface noises that distract a bit but overall I would say the 45rpm 2xLP clear versions sound incredible. They are full, warm, detailed, dynamic. I can live with this pressing for sure.
- I don't have any other version of this on vinyl to compare it to, but this pressing sounds great right out of the package. Nice and clean, no surface noise to speak of. Flawless.
- Can anyone tell me if the 2011 Tickertape EU press is normal-weight or if it's 180g (or even a ridculous 200g, like the 2011 US press)?

A most odd experience with a Radiohead album. I found myself rather underwhelmed by the A-side. The tracks were up to the usual standard in terms of musical arrangement and giving that Radiohead sound, but I didn't find any of the songs particularly catchy or memorable. But then I got completely turned around on the B-side, starting off with the absolutely stellar "Lotus Flower", following with the beautiful "Codex", the wonderfully folksy "Give Up The Ghost", and ending with the subdued dancer "Separator" that has some great filigree guitar work in the background. Rarely am I ever this divided by the sides. Fortunately I find the A-side perfectly listenable. I'm a big Radiohead fan, so "listenable" is high achievement enough as I'm personally concerned. B-side hits it out of the park though.
