1997 look 👀 like David Holmes is on His Top of Composed Art 🖼.

And more recorded at Sabresonic studios.

David Holmes' second disc of _Gritty Shaker_ remixes (which comes in a slimline case, rather than a cardboard case like the 1st disc) features future jazz stalwarts Red Snapper doing a mix that combines quick breaks with blippery and a funk bass. The siren-like tone on the original gets vibrated until it's corresponds to the rest of the jittery, funky track. The b-side "Suicidal Weed" is a slowly chugging train through Old West territory.

What can you say about David Holmes? There's just so much going on with his music. All that atmosphere, energy and trigger happy, punchy drunk excitement. Mr. Holmes own mix has energy to spare, and then some. But, the Richard Fearless mix gets my vote here. Fearless mix tackles this remix head-on and pushes the buttons in the only direction possible, vertically. Most other remixers would have probably have settled, given the strength of the original mix, for a less busy, quieter treatment and let Holmes’s mix do the talking. Not Fearless. He gives his mix a most welcome 'break-beat' shot in the arm, giving Gritty Shaker attitude it never knew it had. An excellent release.
