Notes
Abominog is the 14th studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep.
Originally recorded on 24 track digital tape in 1981 and 1982.
Released in the UK during March 1982 on Bronze Records (2), catalogue number BRONZE BRON 538
First released as a re-mastered CD by Castle in 1997 as ESMCD571 with four bonus tracks.
The vinyl version of the album was released worldwide as a single sleeve cover with an insert or sleeve depending on various country requirements.
Half of the 10 tracks are cover versions of recordings by other artists:
"On the Rebound" was originally recorded by Russ Ballard, on his Barnet Dogs album (1980).
"Hot Night in a Cold Town" was originally recorded by John Cougar Mellencamp, on his Nothin' Matters And What If It Did album (1980). The song was written by songwriters Geoffrey Cushing-Murray and Richard Littlefield.
"Running All Night (With the Lion)" was originally recorded by Gary Farr (2)'s Lion(11), on their Running All Night album (1980). Lion keyboard player John Sinclair (3) brought this song with him when he joined Uriah Heep.
"That's the Way That It Is" was originally recorded by the The Bliss Band, on their Neon Smiles album (1979).
"Prisoner" was originally recorded by Sue Saad And The Next, on their self-titled album Sue Saad And The Next(1980). The lyrics were written by DB Cooper.
The album also included a remake of "Think It Over", a song recorded by the prior (and largely different) lineup of Uriah Heep. The original version, featuring John Sloman on lead vocals, was the A-side of a 1980 Heep single and is included as bonus track on some remastered CD releases of this album.

My favourite pressing of this criminally under-rated Uriah Heep album. Volume level is a bit higher than on '82 WG pressing and track order different. Excellent mastering and cut with good dynamics and punch.- Edited 2 hours ago

Excellent quality on vinyl and unlike at least '82 Western Germany Bronze pressing "Think It Over" is cut with the same volume level as the rest of the LP. Overall sound quality/cut is thinner than on WG pressing or '82 Canadian pressing. (On '82 WG pressing "Think It Over" is cut with significantly lower volume with muffled sound.) - My copy has all these runout Etchings and stamps but Has the Black Mercury label and the number 0518 in the lower right hand corner of back cover.
- The cover has an awful resolution. Very "pixel"-y :( I've yet to compare to other formats if the music is as bad resolution as well.

The once and later superb Uriah Heep at the all time low pointreferencing Abominog (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo) CLALP 110
A decent sounding copy for a repress in my opinion.
Not quite sure where to categorise the album though.
Sounds like Thin Lizzy lite in some places and strays into Foreigner/Chicago in others.
That's not a knock on it as it's a fairly good record all in allreferencing Abominog (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo) CLALP 110
This album propelled Heep into the eighties. After the disappointing Conquest, the whole band fell apart and Box had to form a totally new band, albeit with Lee Kerslake as the drummer.
The new sound of the band is very eigthies pop-metal, but with Goalby on vocals and Sinclair on keyboards it works out suprisingly well.
Both Kerslake and Box are on fire on this record, and for the first time Box is the sole guitarist of the band. Producer Ashley Howe makes the band sound very modern, and although their are 5 coversongs, this album sounds very coherent.
This may be the best album the band made, since Salisbury and at least showed the world that the band still mattered in 1982.
This in one of my favorite albums by the band and even surpasses the legendary Demons and Wizards and Magician's Birthday. I can understand, though, that this slick 80's popmetal is not everyone's cup of tea.referencing Abominog (LP, Album, Repress, Stereo) 204 532
I have a same edition like this, but on back side of the cover on the upper right corner is barcode (4 007192045327) and 360° centre label rim text is little otherwise arranged. Is it another edition that is not here?referencing Abominog (LP, Album, Stereo) SRM-1-4057
The labels on my version are purple and they appear red in the photos. Otherwise, everything seems to match.
