While Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May laid the groundwork for modern day techno, the second wave of Detroit young guns (Carl Craig, Eddie Fowlkes, Blake Baxter and Stacy Pullen) helped propel the sound to the next level. More than 20 years later, Stacy Pullen is still on the front lines, spreading his love for the music to audiences near and far. On this disc (his first in 7 years) for London clubbing institution, Fabric; Pullen takes us on a unified trip from deep house (“I Got It” by BB Boogie) and luscious tribal (“Beatz & Piecez” – Peace Division) through moving tech house (“The Drum” by Tabass Nocturn) and atmospheric techno (“Catch 2” by Dave Angel.) A truly essential addition to any collection.
