Can someone please tell me something about the sound quality of this vinyl pressing!referencing Live In Europe 1989 (2×LP, Album, Record Store Day, Reissue, Remastered, Orange/Green Splattered) ORBIT062LP
I don't find this re-release to be thin sounding whatsoever. Quite the contrary. I've had a digital download of these recordings for some time, before indulging myself on this set and did find it to be lacking in sonic depth. This vinyl issue however, has a much crisper, more fleshed out sound. The first side cuts like a buzzsaw. The guitar tones here are some of the best I've heard from the band and that's saying a lot. Also, it's nice to hear a release with drums mixed at a reasonable volume, giving some of the tracks more of a groove. The version here of Starship is a good example.referencing Live In Europe 1989 (2×LP, Album, Record Store Day, Reissue, Remastered, Orange/Green Splattered) ORBIT062LP
Vinyl looks awesome but as with other Spacemen 3 Space Age Recordings reissues in the past, it's mastered low. You gotta turn this one up but still sounds kinda thin. The recordings are super raw and very rough, the vocals kinda overpower the rest of the music and it definitely lacks clarity. Bad source material? Bad mastering? Combination of both? Either way, not thrilled with this release, sounds pretty bad. Another wasted Spacemen 3 reissue IMO.
