The mastering engineer put over time into this record. Mega polished, everything rounded off, nothing harsh, mega clean, but definitely not clinical like a Martian record is.
The effort that must of gone into this track is mind blowing by all parties involved.
This record and say scan7 black moon rising, both from 1993, symbolise some sort of change in the type of polish the mastering engineers use so to speak.
Wether new technologies assisted this? Probably so.
You can hear the analogue being polished out, I think some people would associate a lack of rawness, while others would favour the cleanness,
House and techno both went the clean route, hard trance was always clean (mix with gains) , while alot of the hardcore remained raw and rough edged for a couple of years or so.
The detroit techno museum has loads of posters and slogans from the very early 90s basically saying Fuck Analog, there's Pro digital - Anti analogue slogans everywhere in that museum.
these guys dreamed of digital in the early 90s so were constantly polishing the analogue out, Derrick may speaks about this on a video on YouTube.
What I will say is, Juan atkins and Jeff mills were exceptions to this phenomenon, they wanted you to know that they are analogue and proud, early Jeff mills records are the opposite of rounded off.....
This was the future happening in real time, this was evolution. referencing The Deep (12", 45 RPM) TF 507
I remember buying this first time around and as a NY House/Garage head this was at the time very much considered techno, however, lots of people bought this because it was that good which just goes to show, If the music is good don't just stick to the genres you know!! Still sounds Fresh today..- I don't understand in which way the tracks have been 'Remastered' here. I have both the original issue and this one and as commented below, the re-issue has a kind of surface noise on the tracks which the 1993 issue hasn't. And I'm not playing on words here but the sound is clearly not as 'deep' as on the first release.

This is far from Terrence Parker's best work, so save your money please :)- Edited 13 years ago

What a hidden secret this release is! And I am gonna reveal it to those who took the time to read this. Detroit lovers, house music lovers, this 12” is really worth looking for. For me the best thing Terrence Parker has ever produced. Warm deep house beats with a awesome beautiful baseline combined with Detroit-ish string arrangements and on top of that a sound of a hunting whip that reminds me of ‘Suffer’ by Grace Jones. Need I say more?
