I always wondered why the D.N.A. crew decided to omit the last 2 lines of the original song ("And of the midnight picnic once upon a time before the rain began / And I finish up my coffee and it's time to catch the train") when making their version.- How can you not like this, the vocals are just perfect, the beats & vibe are so chilled as the track and vocals build a story & picture in your mind so clearly. Such a a simply sounding track, but thats its quality & what makes it. A classic tune & a must have for any 90's House addict.
Its really odd my copy I just found is black vinyl but I can see though it...

In the serie of "take an acapella and put some music on it", this is certainly a classic. Released in 1990, this new version of "Tom's Diner" was in the mood of Soul II Soul's "Back To Life (However Do You Want Me)" released a year earlier. Suzanne Vega agreed to appear in a new video with DNA, and the success was instant. On this release, you get the DNA radio and extended mixes. The original acapella (released in 1987), and another instrumental version (Reprise) which sounds like a Japanese Karaoke backtrack. All that's missing is that Japanese lady on the beach with the lyrics down your screen...
