The Cure – Greatest Hits

While it doesn’t have everything, this is a pretty good collection of hits handpicked by Smith. You have to admire the sounds he produced with the crude instruments he had at the time. The recording and mix are also fantastic. My pressing sounds great. Highly recommended!

GZ media has really improved. Overtaking Optima and MPO. They used to be the worst pressing plant in the world. This record despite not washed sounds decent. It’s not fantastic but the sonics are decent.

I enjoyed the listening experience. Good album.

Si eres mexicano y lo ves en alguna disquería, no lo compres por más de 80 pesos. Una presentación sumamente simplona, incluso el CD es blanco con el titulo impreso en blanco. La música de The Cure impecable y preciosa, pero empaque bien chafón.

This is my only Cure album. This sounds great to my ears. Two songs sound especially good to me The Lovecats and Close to Me - both sound superb.
Pressing is brilliant. Dead quiet.

The same tracks sound better on my 80s compilation cd 'staring at the sea' which is like 3 euros. Dont give these people your money. This is the same bad master as the brickwalled original CD. Lazy and pointless

there's no way the songs 13 / 15 / 16 were bigger hits than Fascination street, Pictures of you, or Hot hot hot which are missing??

Absolutely no problems with the record itself. I didn't detect any clipping or roll-off and it had a low noise floor with no pops or clicks. Comes with nice antistatic record sleeves alongside "decorative" paper sleeves with liner notes, which is a nice touch. My copy also didn't need cleaning out of the packaging (a selling point these days.) A+ for the form factor of the release and quality of the vinyl.

The unfortunate twist is that this was remastered with allot of dynamic compression. When ripped into audacity, there's no real dynamic range to speak of; with just a handful of exceptions for intros/outros, all songs come close to flatlining at full volume. For whatever reason it doesn't bother me on this particular record, and from what I can tell they at least kept it from clipping a-la Death Magnetic, but do keep in mind when purchasing that the "remaster" may have lost some dynamics compared to the original release.

For $30, I'd still consider buying, because the pros outweigh the cons for me. I like The Cure, and their music doesn't seem to suffer too much because of the compression. I also haven't compared the waveform on this to a pre-remaster copy, so maybe it was always like this? If somebody has done this, I'd love to get a reply about the results.

Finally, this claims to be a European release but if you live in the US this might be what you're getting nowadays. It probably comes down to the online seller. My copy was a Christmas gift so I can't offer specifics, but I am US based and wound up with this pressing.

Sound levels too quiet. Is like a Japanese pressing in that respect.

Sounds really great, clean, vinyl is flat, not distorted and i think it's sourced from analog tapes, even Tracks from Side 4 sounds Open and great!!! Maybe too bassy but i love that punchy bass
