I picked up an unbelievably well kept, clean copy of this and it sounds phenomenal, but even more reason to collect these early Atlantic pressings is how much more faithful and vibrant the album cover photos are by Lee Friedlander, for this and a couple of the Ornette albums.
Does anyone else own both the original Japanese SACD pressing and the AP SACD pressing?
I have both versions and have yet to compare the two yet. Interesting to note that the first SACD release from Japan is in mono and the AP version is in stereo. It’s cool to have both versions of this timeless Jazz classic by the master.referencing Giant Steps (LP, Album, Repress, Mono) 1311

This sounds pretty darn good for a cheap, modern knockoff. Definitely a (very) stereo mix.- I have to disagree about the mono pressing, I think it's quite balanced. On the other hand the packaging, while looking nice, is TOO TIGHT. In order to fit LP's into the sleeve they need to be pressed very hard...
great mono pressing... little to no surface noise, great clarity... highly recommended
It’s a DOL stereo pressing. However I’m quite pleased with the quality given the potential for it being garbage. Really not bad
