Yo La Tengo – Painful

Record is clean, centered, and flat. Side A has moderate surface noise and an annoying tick during the quiet parts, but Side B plays flawlessly. Very good overall.

My record came covered with visible and audible scratches, especially on side B. Almost looked like someone had scribbled on it with a sharp tool in spots. Maybe I just got a defective copy, but tracks B3-B6 are pretty much unlistenable because of this

If this is a different pressing to the first one, then perhaps someone with the new one can check the matrix #s to confirm. If they are different then this should have its own entry.

Amazing packaging. I love this CD with all my heart. If you can't get the record on Vinyl, I highly recommend this edition. Still pretty cheap too! Yoooo la tengoooooo

More than happy with this pressing. Totally quiet vinyl, warm sound and nice dynamics. Recommended

How's the pressing quality for this version? Saw it in my local store, but am a little shy to pull the trigger.

This version has no bar code on the back cover, and on the front there’s a clear sticker at lower right showing a face saying “Painful!” in a speech bubble. (The sticker is hard to make out, though, because it’s a dark color overlaid on a dark background.)

Same, recently purchased pressing, none of the issues mentioned for the earlier issue. Should this be separated as separate issues I wonder? Also, no sticker or gazette. OK, because what I wanted was the music.

A fantastic album and it sounds pretty good, but it is a very noisy pressing this. Unfortunate, but sometimes the crackles are lost underneath the nice noise...

Purchased my copy from Amazon 2/2019. No sticker or gazette, but none of the pressing issues reported by earlier purchasers. Requested a second copy to make sure. Again, no sticker/gazette but pressing is very quiet and flat like the first.

So take your pick. Extra inserts or a nice pressing? I'll happily take the latter.
