Fans of this album might be interested to know that Eno's DVD "14 video paintings" has as it's soundtrack an alternate version of "Thursday Afternoon" that's noticeably different, it's 20 minutes longer and has a slightly broader, richer sound palette.
The DVD also had as another 47 minute track on it which is compiled from the Ambient 1-4 CDs.referencing Thursday Afternoon (CD, Album) EGCD 64
Is it wrong if, despite this having been written specifically for CD media (that many of y'all have pointed out) that I still would love to have this on LP? As long as it's not a four 10" box set haha.- This is what Andy Dufresne should've played in Shawshank Prison, because this music says it all. Freedom, happiness, life. And as it is said, "Earth" without "art" is just "Eh".

It's a gentle listen, but "Thursday Afternoon" is uncomfortably close to something as insubstantial as wind chimes. I might even go so far as to say it's boring. Phoned in. A lot of Eno's earlier ambient work functioned on more than one level; there was the gossamer ambient sounds, but also interesting production, sound design, and actual music to enjoy. "Thursday Afternoon" doesn't have much of that. It sounds like a record you made when you were super high and thought it sounded amazing. Then the next day you listen to it straight and realize there's less there than you thought. "Thursday Afternoon" is about two minutes of idea stretched to an hour. It would sound nice tinkling away in the background as muzak, and it's a nice album to fall asleep to. It provides an atmosphere, but a very thin one. That's the best I can say about it.
I can scarcely think of another widely known record that deserves a vinyl press less than "Thursday Afternoon." It would have to be a double vinyl release. How will you get up to change the record three times if you've fallen asleep during Side A? If I put on the A side, the B, C, or D side, I don't think you would be able to tell me which side you're hearing if you didn't hear the very first moments on Side A. referencing Thursday Afternoon (CD, Album) EGCD 64
My copy also has a black and white 2 sided insert with information/explanation of the actual Thursday afternoon video release on one side and the order form for it (in both regular and beta formats) on the other side. Now THAT'S a time capsule!- Edited 4 years ago

Get this shit on wax already Bri’Guy, The sceno-need-the-Eno.
Though to be fair this came out just as everyone assumed it would from that point beard always or forever be on compact disc which it was, for a while at least, but look at us now. We all just wish it had an initial release so we could have a first pressing from the year it was released and not a reissue/pressing, but Of course we’d still be quite happily satisfied either way!
This is one of the best ambient pieces of all time, it can be so many different things on so many different listenings for me, whether I’m meditating or tripping down memory lane (~);} or just having it on the background during a serene drive or evening or outing or what have you. So yeah, I would agree that this deserves a vinyl release ASAP. referencing Thursday Afternoon (CD, Album) EGCD 64
My favorite tracks are the first and the last one. Nothing compares or is similar to this masterpiece, except Brian Eno himself. Even with all the money of this world, I doubt Mr. Eno could recreate an universe of sounds like 'Thursday Afternoon' today. Thanks Brian.referencing Thursday Afternoon (CD, Album) EGCD 64
this music will stun you in all its stillness. the soft ring of each key stroke will gently tap your mind before you zone out ensuring you're still listening. this music is a soundtrack to a lazy daydream on a thursday afternoon.
