Rolling Stones* – Hackney Diamonds

Meh. Sound is pretty good and full, but material is pretty average — not bad for 21st century Stones, Mick sounds good, and album is definitely better than the 1990s output, but songs are largely forgettable. This copy was probably a good deal on clearance for $11 bucks at Walmart, but it arrived pretty banged up.

Love the music, hate the poor sound, but I like it

Upon listening to Hackney Diamonds, I found it to be a more enjoyable experience compared to Bridges to Babylon. It featured more memorable moments than Voodoo Lounge and demonstrated greater consistency than A Bigger Bang. Clocking in at just 48 minutes, it's the band's shortest album since 1986's Dirty Work. The album offers a solid mix of rockers, ballads, and blues tracks. What stood out the most for me was the collaboration between Jagger and Richards on the song "Driving Me Too Hard," which effectively blends Jagger's pop leanings with Richards' raw bluesy style. The opening riff pays homage to "Tumblin' Dice," while the melody is distinctly Jagger's, creating a catchy and radio-friendly single.

Major boo to you analog snobs as it sounds great to my ears. The overall sound production is very good as is the toe tapping song selection. And kudos to Keith for throwing in some damn good solos. You'd never know the "boys" were 80 if you didn't already know it. I think Lady Gaga was a fine selection on Sweet Sounds of Heaven too. Only throwaway here is the last track.

Lost my grandad in 2011, then my dad in 2016. Both were lifelong Cubs fans, so I had to get this pressing. Glad to discover, it actually sounds pretty damn good.

I didn’t like this album much at first. Then I sort of liked it. Then I liked it. Then I kind of loved it. Now I effing adore it. Do yourself a favor: if at first it didn’t succeed with you, give it a few more spins. I can’t believe they put out an album this good this late in the game. Several stone cold classics here. Minor miracle. Hallelujah.

That said, get the black vinyl instead. My copy of this blue one had all sorts of quality issues, but my black is perfect.

The purple transparent is beautiful and plays perfectly. It is quiet with no surface noise, flat, and sounds great! I gave this a few listens for it to grow on me. Mick's vocals are better than ever, considering he is now in his 80's. As for the songs, there is enough goodness here for most Stones fans to dig into.

Maybe I got unlucky here but my copy is very noisy - cracks and pops - have given it a real good clean but not a great deal of improvement unfortunately.

For the album - it’s ok …. I don’t think it’s outstanding but does its job. Do agree with a poster here that the production is quite slick. Not a real fan of Andrew Watts production…. That’s just my opinion but respect others who like it.

A 7/10 from me.

I got a made in GZ black vinyl , and it's warped like a 8, circle shaped scratched on both sides. probably from handling in the factory. last tracks on both sites have constant surface noise. overall it would be a 3/5 for the vinyl quality but at this price I will be returning it for a Refund.

im done with modern LP issues that are not from audiophile jazz labels. especially stuff made from the GZ plant in Europe and that other one in the Netherlands.

Can it be recorded again?

Analog, and it is not much more expensive, better than digital.
