- Great first pressing of a fantastic album. Cut by Rick Essig, at least assuming based off of the runout. Future pressings use different plates, so this one probably sounds a smidge better than the rest but I don't have said future pressings to compare. Played on a ATLP120XUSB with AT-VM95SH stylus.
- Beautiful splatter and sounds great! Pressed super quiet for a colored splatter vinyl. A great release!
- Absolutely a buy. I forgot this record existed until a couple of days ago I'm in the store and see the repress and insta-bought. Pressing is phenomenally good. Get it before you're at the mercy of the scalpers; I'm sure not many were pressed.
- I just picked this up and couldn’t wait to drop it on the table when I got home.
To me, this is a “grail” record of mine, as I just love both Saul and Trent and the combination together made one of the best and underrated hip hop albums of the last 20 years.
This is where Yeezus came from folks!
Music aside (which is all fantastic including the five bonus tracks on Side D) - the pressing seems to be absolutely perfect and flawless.
The first record had the same look as the photo here, half black with a brownish-white (and slight red) that was quite spacey and trippy.
The second record had very little black, also like the one in the photo, and was more of a mixed brown, white and gold-like colours.
So how’s the sound?
Colour me impressed. I can not see any identifying marks as to where it was pressed, but it is absolute silent, noise free and very dynamic.
I’m convinced, that like almost all Nine Inch Nails albums on vinyl, this is a less-compressed master as it feels more open, the bass blooms and pounds naturally and the vocals do not sound harsh or unpleasant leaving a total sense of proper dynamics intact - which as we know, Trent demands in his production work.
Honestly, even without a clean both records were clean, and mostly static free with no flaws to be heard.
I can only imagine it will sound better after a clean!
Get it if you can before prices shoot up like the original RSD release. - I got 2 side c/d discs in mine. It's impossible to know how wide spread this is yet but I'm working on getting it resolved at the moment.
