This is a great album. Love it as much as any other Morbid Angel album. There are nitwits also saying that Heretic is a bad album. It's a matter of taste. I love this extreme industrial death metal and it's damn original and creative! Ground breaking. Bit every band has its fans pretending that they own the right to say that the band should keep on repeating what they did on their first albums. Apparrently it is true that some people become unable to absorb and appreciate new music after a certain age. Glad I'm not one of those and I can still greatly enjoy the magnificent creations of so many bands who endure the test of time!- For all the critics, this is a great experimental album. It's revolutionary. I have always loved it. But it's a mix of Industrial with Death Metal. And it's so energetic, rough and hard! Even Vader could never achieve such a thing! Who can blame Morbid Angel for being creative instead of repetitive? I'm sure history will do justice to this excellent genious creation!

My washing machine has played "Too Extreme!" without any fault. I'm impressed.- Just got my copy today I only like 7 of the 11 tracks the intro and the death metal songs the industrial ones suck bigtime! However the production and overall sound quality of this album on the good songs is amazing. I kind of wish David had stayed with Trey & they had continued to make music but without the lame industrial stuff. Oh well Kingdoms with Steve is great & I'm just happy they returned to making 100% brutal stuff. \m/
- Edited 3 years agoI just got this in the mail today, I ordered it online. I had to get this album, all the hate it receives spikes my curiosity everytime I've read a negative review or seen a ranking video with it listed at absolute last. I'm listening to it as I'm writing this review and I do not understand all the negativity surrounding this album? From all the bad shit I've heard, I was expecting a industrial album with some metal thrown in but that's not what I'm hearing at all. I'm hearing a straight up extreme metal album complete with tons of blast beats and double bass. Now, I can't really say it's reminiscent of traditional death metal but who cares? This shit is banging...seriously. I don't particularly care for the second track which I'm guessing spawned all the hate in the first place but the rest is goddamned heavy ass music. Track 10 is another industrial metal song but better and catchier than track 2 and more guitar driven, David's guttural growl toward the end (before it goes into the slower part leading to the end of the song) is brutal. Track 11 has some industrial stuff going on again but nothing that makes me regret any of this album. There is plenty of brutality in between the industrial stuff if that's not your thing. Lastly, don't rely on others to make a definitive decision on whether you like this album or not, listen to it for yourself and don't be a sheep. I love Morbid Angel the same as I always have and this album did nothing to hinder that love. I can't believe it took all this time until I finally gave it a chance and made up my own mind as to my thoughts and I'm thinking that "Illud Divinum Insanus" is going to get lots more spin time on my home stereo.
- Edited 3 years agoi don't understand the bad hype around this album. Thank you for the bad hype because i bought it for 1 euro expecting nothing good and it is not bad at all , it is very good.
- Edited 4 years agoThis is a very controversial release from MA. There is a lot of experimental and industrial style mixed in with the traditional style that is expected from them. Many people have forgotten that MA has always had other elements in their music besides death metal but rarely attempted to merge them in this way. The closest they did was the record Domination. There are many tracks that are the MA you expect, Existo Vulgore, Blades of Baal, 10 more Dead, Destructos vs Earth, Nevermore and Beauty Meets Beasts are tracks that could be on any MA release. These are awesome tracks that you would expect from them. Now the rest. I can see why some would not like it and think they have gone to far and maybe they have. The majority of the tracks on a record are awesome brutal death metal.
I do not like colored, clear or picture discs. Unfortunately the version I have is clear. Its impossible to see dust or lint on clear pressings. But it does sound good and its a 12" 45rpm and I find that interesting since I do not have any records like this in my small collection. referencing Illud Divinum Insanus (CD, Album) SOM 222
Morbid Angel + Laibach = Fantastic! The simpleton slope heads who can't comprehend anything beyond basic unimaginative death metal can't understand it, oh well....
