Cyborg Dance is up there with the best of Newcleus and was ahead of its time to the point of foreshadowing to a degree the DnB template and even MC flow, but in the 80s vocoder style and tempo. Space Is The Place is a funky one too, maybe not for the super serious who are averse to what they would consider edam in their music but it grooves well and fits well in the Jam On Revenge style of Newcleus. I think it's an essential 12" to own and with VG+ versions going for $5 at the time of writing, it's also a veritable steal.

i discovered something interesting recently about this 12" single. i have two copies of the US pressing, and neither one is a promo copy. on one of the copies, the track 'space is the place' is about 6:41 long, but on the other one the length is 8:05. both copies have the time listed as 6:44. i notice that on the full album, the track is listed as being 8:05. so some copies obviously have this longer version on them. i can't see any way to distinguish them except by listening. FYI.

2 absolute electro Hip Hop Classics on one 12". Nice to have the german Bellaphon pressing for the picture cover, but i realised that "Space Is The Place" is significantly slower than on the original US Sunnyview pressing. On the Bellaphon pressing it's 111 BPM, on the Sunnyview pressing it's 120 BPM. I don't think that this was done on purpose, i guess someone made a mistake slowing it down that much.
Must be played on + 6,5 (pitch) to hear it in the original tempo. Interestingly the Tempo on the B Side for Cyborg Dance is correct.

Cyborg Dance's main synth riff and bassline are evidently inspired by Nightmove's synth classic Transdance as it uses the same sequence of notes. Or is it just me and my selective hearing?

Main notable difference is that this production is more syncopated, less teutonic in vibe and much funkier. Both all time '80s electronic classics in any case.

I can't believe this record doesn't get more recognation! By far the best two tracks from the album, stand out gemms that easily puts Jam On It on old dusty shelves! This is the most futuristic, musical and dense two tracks electro/vocoded hip hop ever had to offer, though amazingly, this neither really sounds old school nor retro, just like the most spaced out music Daft Punk could ever dream to produce for the Dancefloor, or so I think.
I just hope my crate digging habbit would sometimes dig up records that would send this 12" off from my all time top ten, but I don't see that happening anytime soon, if ever...
