Yes definitely agree with other commentors! I remember the CD and digital versions of the album fondly but this vinyl pressing sounds VERY different. It may grow on me with time, but on 'Fools' especially, Justin's occasional less-than-ideal singing is really brought to the front of the mix. For me, Jesu has never really been about vocals and I feel these new mixes haven't done the album any favours.

Yeah this is bittersweet.... still love the album but it's sad that it's changed in ways that are difficult to accept, the vocals in particular

So..... How about the new vocals. After all these years of waiting I'm pretty disappointed with this. The vocals were perfect first time around.

Another masterpiece in the jesu catalogue, like all their albums unmistakably jesu and still different from any other of their releases. The vinyl version uses a different mix, maybe disturbing for ears familiar with the CD release at first, but the longer you listen, the more mindblowing it becomes. The album's only flaw is that Diarmuid Dalton does not play on it.

Why is there still no vinyl version?

Been a JK Broadrick fan from the begining and ALL the Jesu material is FAR from anything Godflesh was ..Jesu takes some getting used to. Most albums will grow on you after some time. I have to disagree completley with the other commenter posting about "the quality deteriorating" This(Ascension) is not much different than ANY of Broadricks back catalog of releases. And what i mean by that is like 99% of all albums there is a few tracks that stand out and most are so/so. Didn't notice it right away but after a few spins the song "Small Wonder" jumped out at me large !
The distorted harmonics riffing is trademark JK Broadrick ear candy :)
Every one has their own opinions.. My advice to people is don't form an opinion on the first spin of the disc and dont expect all the songs to be that great at first impression. Jesu is an acquired taste!

Justin is one of my alltime favourite musicians. I love whatever he has done.
Lately though his works have a deteriorating quality.
ok... this album is released... so what?
