Ordered two copies for myself and a friend (nos. 3481 & 3482) and both have the same pressing defect: a fingertip-sized impression at the start of side A that causes quiet thumps for the first 1:30 of "Gates". (Really messes with my ears when listening with headphones.) Also 3 or 4 drop-outs in the first 10 seconds; are these on the tape, or a result of this defect? Anyone else with this issue? I'm curious whether to try a replacement or whether they are all like this.referencing Relayer (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Stereo, 180g, Gatefold) RHF1 18122
Besides the excellent mastering job by KG we've all come to expect, I also need to commend Rhino's fancy packaging with the thick and sturdy gatefold and the high quality looking prints.- Its not bad. Not bad at all really!
I dont think Relayer is the best recorded classic Yes album and indeed it might be the worst along with the og Tales From Topo. But this edition sounds pretty good. Certainly side one sounds good throighout and only at the end of side 2 does Soon sound a little dullish. I dont get any major distortions or digital nasties. Dynamics seem quite good. It still suffers the slightly flat dimensionality of the og and the lp is warped but unaffected and has some fill rips in quieter places but otherwise the mastering is decent.
I wouldnt pay high money for it but at rrp theres enough to recommend this cut. - Edited one month ago

Unbelievable sound as mentioned below??? No. A tad better than the Friday Music version ive got??? Yes.
I still think the Steven Wilson remix is definitive as it adds weight to whats always been a somewhat thin and lean recording but this is the best ive heard the og mix. My copy is also flat, clean, defect free and quiet as a mouse!
Unbelievable sound and some of the hyperbole written elsewhere is just laughable but this is a very good reissue and recommended all the same! referencing Relayer (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Stereo, 180g, Gatefold) RHF1 18122
Unbelievable sound. This thing is CRAZY. For my ears, this pressing sounds flawless. A little seam split on the inner part of the gatefold however, but it's not a big deal at all- Edited 2 months ago

After getting in the mood to throw this on the player I was astounded at the sounds coming from this pressing! I have several of the Rhino High Fi's and this is par for the course with the rest in amazing sound. Not my absolute fav from Yes but great album and this pressing is worth the $50 all in at Rhino. - Edited 2 months ago

Disappointed. Compared to the UK First this is lacking the clarity and upper frequencies, so sounds somewhat muted. Howe’s guitar has no bite or sting. Low frequencies are strong but lack the dynamics of the original, and thus the visceral excitement of the original. Not sure whether this is tape age, or the US master is a generational copy of the UK or choices made by KPG. Lovely package and nice to own, but for listening it’ll be the UK original. referencing Relayer (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Stereo, 180g, Gatefold) RHF1 18122
The Black Sabbath came completely flawless, but this one had some issues. The record did come through the inner en caused a small seamsplit inside the cover. The record needed several cleanings before it played well.It had a white subtance on the outside(Maybe from the inner sleeve?)Guess the postoffice(or customs) could be blamed for that.
It sounds great and made me appreciatie this album even more.referencing Relayer (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Numbered, Reissue, Stereo, 180g, Gatefold) RHF1 18122
I like it. The brightness was tamed down without losing the dynamics. The stereo spread is incredible. I think KG squeezed everything he could out of this recording.
