Death Cab For Cutie – Transatlanticism

I bought the 180g black version. The A side of disc one and some songs on the B side clip and sound distorted. I'm not sure what causes this (any ideas?), but I've checked with different speakers, cleaned the disc, readjusted my tone arm, etc., and it still does it. I've even now bought and returned two albums on Amazon to make sure it wasn't just an issue with the first copy I bought. It's really unfortunate as this is one of the select few albums I really wanted on vinyl. If you love this album and want the vinyl to actually listen to, stay away from this pressing.--> Has anybody else had this issue?

Warp on start of side B-2 that skips on a Koetsu, which is never fun. Will attempt replacement. Generally sounds good, particularly for colored vinyl, but warp is super disappointing as it affects some initial play.

Received a replacement and both records are 100% totally flat and got a very cool marble pattern on disc 2 (sharp straight black line across the middle of the disc). My heart nearly burst. Now to listen at a time of day when my neighbours won’t kill me 🤞

Really impressed with the dynamics. Passenger Seat especially wowed me.

Sounds great, mix is good and vocals are nice and punchy but also a bit warm which matches the mood of the album. First record is slightly warped on the edge, second is flat and the color is amazing. A few pops but only gave it a quick brushing.

Can anyone comment on the quality of this pressing compared to the VMP red marble pressing released this year? Hopefully, it's better…

Weird... Everything about my just-purchased copy matches the photos for this pressing (e.g., hype sticker, download with demos). But the matrix/runouts appear to be variants of the VMA pressing. The barcode (6 55173 30321 4) is close to this one, and the vinyl is definitely black, not ruby red.

Great quality pressing. I love that they made it a double record, since the extra space helps avoid distortion near the end of each side, and the sides are split up in a way that makes artistic sense. Side C is a perfect side, for example. The sound is a little bright, but I don't mind--it certainly doesn't sound dull!

Edit: Now that I've listened a few more times, I'd say that I've turned it up for disc 2 almost every time. Disc 1 is definitely cut a bit hot.
