Peter Gabriel – So

Mix on this version sounds great. Took a couple cleanings to get the grit out of the groove, but plays silently after some TLC. These Peter Gabriel reissues are fantastic. Recommended.

Australian pressing has "Mastered on copper" scribed in side 1 deadwax.

This is how in my opinion that the album could have been made: Side 1: Red Rain, Sledgehammer, Don't Give Up, Don't Break This Rhythm. Side 2: In Your Eyes, Mercy Street, Big Time, That Voice Again. The cd can have the bonus tracks of We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37) and This Is The Picture (Excellent Birds). We Do What We're Told is the b-side to BigTime and the later one could have been the b-side to Sledgehammer.

GZ Media (Czech Republic) so for some that’s a deal breaker. This pressing is flat and centered. The groove floor is not dead silent. Surface noise is audible but not a distraction. The vinyl was cleaned of dust and debris. Robust inner sleeve. Packaging is above average. Digital download card included. This pressing is decent but not optimum. Compared to several OG pressings, this one holds its own. Worth grabbing if the price is reasonable.

Can't believe they did this as a single LP! Especially when the 2016 release was a 2LP @ 45rpm. But then again, the latter was pressed in Europe. UK releases seem to always sound better than U.S. releases in my experience. Seems like more care is put into them.

I want to buy this, but am a little apprehensive, with all the mentions of surface noise.

Sure, it's a little hot, but it's under the line of sibilance, but if you have a nicer stylus/cart and set it up properly, it should be within tolerable levels. I recommend a shibata or microline stylus which can cover more surface area. Cheaper styli will likely produce sibilance., especially with a well played record. I lucked out and got one in the shrink like new and cleaned the heck out of it before playing. Nice copies are still out there for not a lot of money! I agree with all the reviews here. This is an incredible remaster and pressing. Flat, totally clean and a sound stage that pulls you in. So far I’ve struggled to find a better vinyl listen. A must have for any audiophile collector.
