I had been looking for an original 1986 pressing to replace my worn copy for some time, but decided on this one. Not a single regret! This is a real gem in my collection. The vinyl is flat and absolutely silent, no clicks or pops that unfortunately are so typical of new releases. The mastering is brilliant. I was a bit skeptical about the changed order of the tracks, but now I have to admit that this album was meant to sound like this. Mercy Street sounds much fuller and is a perfect opener for the side two. I never liked We Do What We're Told as the closing number. On the CD, This Is The Picture sounds like a bonus track. Now everything is finally in its place. And In Your Eyes is the album's perfect closing number. Lets be honest, Peter Gabriel ended his concerts with this song for years.

When I listened to the half speed mastered Version (PGLPR5, 884108004548 2016 Europe)
I was wondering if it actually sounds very similar to my 1986 European pressing Virgin – 207 587-630. I recorded both versions on a high res audio system and listen to both back to back. Apart from slightly more level on the half speed mastered (or less dynamic on the new version) and maybe the syllables are a tat less annoying on the new version, it is the same.

So (for SO) the sound as we're talking about here is untouched and the same than on the original record, apart from the De-essing that seemed to took place..

No need to buy new expensive half speed master versions like I did. The original 1986 version sounded good at the time and still sounds good today. At least that is my experience with So.

Great sound. Deep and clean bass. Very cheap, but so amazing vinyl for collection. My recommendations!

I've been through multiple US OG's over the years and this release improves on all of them. Sibilance had always been a reoccurring battle with majority of the OG copies I've acquired over the years and this two disc 45rpm version has finally fixed that. Overall, the soundstage and separation are excellent. Such a joy to listen to this album in this presentation.

A variant exists Mfg. by Cinram #910917D, otherwise physically identical. Another excellent and unique sounding edition.

I stumbled across this for $2 and I'm pleasantly surprised with it. It isn't compressed to my ears but Peter Gabriel definitely went for more mids and bass in this mix. I prefer it to the 86 CD and it is worlds better than that awful 25th Anniversary CD that was very compressed.

Just listening to my original copy that I bought upon this album’s release in 1986. My copy is still in minty pristine shape inside out and after playing this on my P6 with Ania MC cartridge it’s pretty stunning how good this pressing is. Nice to hear that this fine Canadian pressing is preferred over the US edition. I always thought most Canadian pressings were high quality.
