Larry Norman – Only Visiting This Planet

What can be said about this brilliant classic album that hasn’t already been said?
Yes – it is still one of the best and beloved Christian albums of all time (even though Larry never intended it to be for the Christian market).
Each song is wonderfully written, except for the slight misstep of “I’d Wish We’d All Been Ready”, which I do not believe is quite doctrinally correct… (but that’s only my opinion).
A definite highlight is the song “Six O’clock News” which exemplifies what happens a lot in mainstream journalism. “Readers Digest” is another awesome song and a great way to finish the album.
So proud to have this one in the collection.

This era of vinyl rereleases by far have the best album cover. Don’t know how they decided to have a such a large black boarder for the original releases.

From my standpoint, this is the best album ever recorded.
Larry Norman left the West Coast band People in the late 1960s, later coming to the UK where he recorded this masterpiece at George Martin's Air Studios.
The result is a combination of West Coast Rock and UK support musicians including John Whetton and Gordon Giltrap.
While the majority of songs are in the Gospel genre, they can be appreciated by all listeners.
I/ve Got To Learn To Live Without You and Pardon Me are ballads,while Readers Digest is a critque of the early 1970s Pop/Rock scene.
I Am The Six O'Clock News is a bombshell of an anti war song that rivals anything by Bob Dylan.
The Outlaw looks at the person of Jesus through several different viewpoints and I Wish We'd been Ready looks to the end of the age.
All in all I can't do Only Visiting This Planet impact justice and while Larry recorded other great albums (Upon This Rock in 1969 and In Another Land in 1975) this is a landmark release of which I have not heard better.
