David Gilmour – Luck And Strange

I bought my black pressing factory sealed however the vinyl looks seriously mishandled. Lots of small scuffs and one serious one on side B, last song. I don't know how this could have happened. Sound wise it is quite noisy, lots of pops and clicks audible especially during quiet parts. Other than that it sounds actually quite nice, rich bass and detailed treble. Images quite nice as well.

Illegal russian copy not respecting the author's rights! They don't like occidental politics but no problem to steal our music ;-)

Great album, but unfortunately my copy is warped! Seems to be a common problem with brand new records.
Edit: Replaced my copy much better, slight warp.

I purchased this album when I saw him on tour at MSG NYC. Upon initial play it had some surface noise on the quiet parts on the beginning of side A and B but it quickly faded away with the music. This album is fantastic from beginning to end. David and family really recorded a great album. I love it. My only issue is it was cut on the quiet side, so I needed to raise the volume on my system to hear it the way I wanted to hear. Great album though. I do hope they repress it louder, perhaps spread out among two discs to get the full sound of this great album.

No major flaws with my copy. Picked it up on holiday in the USA. Doesn't hit home quite like you'd hope compared to the digital versions I have but decent pressing nevertheless.

Bought this record three days after its initial release and played it for the first time. A lot of people complain that it has quite a bit of surface noise and some distortion in the high ends, and unfortunately my copy fits that description. I think it's a mix of poor quality control and the fact that it came in probably the roughest paper sleeve I've felt by far, which had a few little scuffs on my record before I could even clean it and play it. Not to mention the record uses the exact same loudness war master the CD does, which is never good. Overall I'm disappointed. Hoping future reissues will sound better.

IMHO, this Dolby Atmos mix is once again a real gem (7.4.1 system) : wonderfully opened with well placed and separated instruments, voices and chors. Is it not what we expect from a good mix ? A good companion with the stereo mix on LP, also for bonus tracks, also available in Atmos but maybe with less subtle and more demonstrative mixes.

Dirty, dusty and full of pressing clicks and fuzz. there was so much dirt and dust on the first clean - its also got a small wobble at one point. The quiet passages and the guitar highlights are ruined by pops and clicks.
My copy is going back. looks like GZ have made copies of this release a lottery at best.

My copy of the black vinyl is very good, not audiophile but is quiet, has an excellent soundstage and instrument separation. I always avoid coloured or 'splatter' vinyl; imo these are made solely to be waved around on 'the socials' rather than to be listened to. With black you have a much better chance at a fairly decent pressing.
