Reviews
- So disappointing...
The music and production are amazing.
However, I've now had 3 copies (thanks Amazon) of the clear vinyl version where the second disc (side 3) is warped/dished to the point where the stylus jumps on my Luxman.
It's another example of Optimal rushing manufacturing and not allowing enough time for the vinyl to cool.
Is the black vinyl any better? - I have had two damaged copies from HMV online. I've noticed a lot of NEW vinyl have issues with sleeves and covers such as little frays where the lip of the sleeve hasn't been cut cleanly. The first copy sent had a thumb imprint where you would stick a postage stamp on a letter. This was clearly was damaged prior to shrinkwrapping. The second copy has curve of record showing clearly on the back sleeve. Little things like this ruin the whole vinyl experience (for me antway).
- Been loving the music, so decided to get it on vinyl. Absolutely incredible pressing. Up there with any audiophile release, IMHO. Detail is great, bass and slam hits you in the chest. And quieter passages just shine.
- Someone said hunt down a copy of Dusk versus waiting. Do they not know how much copies go for used, regardless of country? I own one and it was over 100 bucks U$ and that was in 2003! Today, forget it. It's a great album especially on vinyl, but unless you have the extra money, 300 plus Dollars or Pounds Sterling buys a lot more other records you're looking for.
- I have the CD. Overly loud, distorted on my JBL Bluetooth headphones at listening levels. Brickwalled? (the 24 bit album in Phillips Fidelio headphones through my PCs M-Audio D44 soundcard into my Schitt headphone amp sounds OK). I'm going to have to buy a copy of this, the reviews of the vinyl (regardless of colour) all seem like it's worth getting. Dusk and Mind Bomb sound amazing on vinyl (US versions), so a good track record.
- Great remastering in this CD and an album that is very close to matching the quality of 1993's Dusk. A fine return indeed.
- Unfortunately my clear copy has a lot of clicks and pops even after cleaning. Second disc is a little wharped too but it is audible only at the beginning. It's a pity because the recorded sound quality and dynamics are wonderful but crackles are horrible.
- Matt Johnson knows what's going on, nothing has changed. Eyes wide open and ears cleaned. He wrote some truth bombs on this one!!! The black vinyl pressing is velvety. See The The live if you get the chance, quality stuff.
