Does this pressing contain the floods outro, unlike the reissue?

Does anyone know if this is just a repress of the 2012 version or did they fix the fades/missing solo?

Mix has always been very bright on this one, but it's even more extreme on this pressing. Would have loved more bottom end and less highs. Vinyl is quiet, nice dynamics. Its OK, but i think it could be better

What we hear on this version is exactly what is on the original tapes: the UNFINISHED version of TGSTK. Plus a whole bunch of extra fade-outs for good measure, just to piss you off (btw, notice how almost every song on this aberration is artificially faded out. And then some turd will come up to me and say "that's how the band recorded it"... excuse me while I pass out laughing...)
The audiophile-bait sticker says "master tapes" but actually there was no such thing, just the tapes from the Tascam machine that the band had recorded the album on. The mastering on this album was done digitally and for CD only, so the exact same files that went on the CD were pressed on the vinyl version as well, minus "SN Pt 1" for space limitations. That's what happened, regardless of what kids nowadays think they know from reading up on the internet for 10 minutes.
As for the outro on Floods, even my kitchen sink knows that that solo had been around since 1988 and was thrown in as an afterthought. Point is, the album was never mastered without it because Dime was the one who decided what the finished album sounded like, and he decided that it needed that solo. Who gives a crap if he did it in post-production? Does it mean that it's not good for vinyl? Obviously not, since it's on the original LP. So yeah, whatever is missing, screwed up, faded out, and just simply odd about this abomination is solely the fault of a stupid kid working at Rhino who's never heard this album, got the job because he's cheap, got the earliest version of the files thrown at (I guarantee you, whoever's responsible for this crap never even saw the original tapes) and got told to make it sound good on vinyl. And that's about it.

After listening through, the 3 things that stood out the worst for this album to me:

1. Like everyone else notices, the Floods outro, and having room for about another 5 minutes of track is super annoying, regardless of the justification of it. The people responsible for mixing obviously did not do their research on what the populace they planned on selling to would want.

2. At the end of Suicide Note part 2 the volume fades out SUPER EARLY, but plays to the end like they didn't realize the song wasn't quite over yet. By cranking to full volume you can hear the end at least....kinda annoying to have to do that.....

3. At the end of "The Underground in America" they fade the song out, but this song has always segued into "Sandblasted Skin" so it just sounds weird like your speakers are going out, I thought my right side speakers stopped working because of how terrible the editing of it was.

There might be other issues but I am already filling up this text box enough as it is.

Terribly done version, aside from these 3 glaring mistakes in production, the rest of it seems to play fine.

Can anyone speak on the press and sound quality? (the missing parts/changes and edits don't bother me)

I'm sure in '96 every Pantera fan was taken aback by the first 20 seconds of this album; I know in 2006 I was. I wasn't fortunate to be old enough to see Pantera before their breakup, but thank heavens CDs exist. For me, Trendkill is Pantera's best album. When the first song scares the shit out of you when it starts, you know something good is about to happen.

Some people dislike the rawness of Trendkill, or think it doesn't groove. I disagree entirely. The album is pure, unfiltered raw aggression and is the best example of the musicianship every member of Pantera possessed. It wasn't the pretty, meticulous riffing of Cowboys from Hell. It wasn't the sledgehammer-to-the-face, calculated Far Beyond Driven. What it was was a band at its breaking point still able to produce music, still able to have soul, still able to have passion, without releasing a stinking pile of crap. It may not have been as planned out as every other album, but it was still Pantera.

I'll give fans who dislike this album that it is different from the rest of the Pantera catalog, but for me that just reaffirms their greatness. To begin with the title track, progress to 10s, and have a track like Floods, all on what many consider to be a "brutal" album is a sheer stroke of genius. It's a must have in my opinion, and has stood the test of time. This album is the one I hear the Texas blues, the Texas rock, and the Texas metal in. It truly is a beautiful conglomeration of many styles of music.

The 2016 remastered CD version has the album the way we know and love it. They just couldn't remaster the vinyl right, back in 2012, because they just NEEDED to use the original tapes, even though those were NOT final in the band's mind. In the end, all they needed to do was remastering the original digital files and put those on vinyl. It would have been much better than the butchered version we got. And before someone jumps up and says "analog is better"... the original LP was pressed from the same files as the CD and it sounds awesome. I honestly think that if they had included "Suicide Note I" on that (which they could have for sure, they just had to pull down the volume knob a bit), THAT would have been the ultimate TGSTK vinyl version.

I get the need to keep the original mix for the purists, but sides C and D have plenty of dead space - practically half the record on both sides. Why not provide both versions, with and without the extras? Just a thought.
