Townes Van Zandt – Live At The Old Quarter, Houston, Texas

I found this pressing to be pretty noisy. Might try to hint down a different one.

Sounds and looks as good as my Orignal Monarch pressing but with almost no background noise on this reissue.

Bought my copy back in 2015, flat, clean and sounds great , mastered by Jason Ward … JW in runouts, definitely a great buy for me 😀

The fat possum pressing, as others have said, is absolutely filthy. It's covered in an amount of grime that seems appropriate for a 40 year old record with no sleeve, or maybe a woodshop. Really strange for a new record. Sounds okay after cleaning.

It is a crime against vinyl that Fat Possum has the rights to this fine music. Both Townes Van Zandt records I bought today were absolutely FILTHY. Luckily, this record was just really really dirty and not scratched up like the other Townes Van Zandt record I bought. The jacket is very nice but I would rather a cheap jacket and a nice pressing instead of the other way around.

After a deep cleaning, the records sounds pretty good, a few pops but nothing too bad.

Does anyone else have a copy where the second LP has a different label for Clifton Chenier Cajun Swamp Music Live?

Stunning sounding pressing of the most essential Townes Van Zandt album. Well recorded, perfectly reproduced for record on this Monarch press.
The album itself is Townes at his very best…live solo acoustic…not drunk, not too stoned…loose and at the top of his game. Every song on here is the definitive version of it IMO.
Some of his studio albums are WAY too overproduced, some are really great…but none can top the haunting beauty of Townes alone, finger pickin on point and singing his heart out.

wow. ashamed to admit that this is my first townes record. but it's a pretty fine starter. dead silent, sounds like you're in the club. and these songs...

Sounds great. Love VMP pressings in general are well done. My only minor complaint is their covers, especially double lps, require a larger than standard size outer sleeve for protection.

This sounds great, if anyone reading this is curious -- the first LP (mainly side A) needed an extra thorough cleaning to remove all surface noise, but the other LP sounded really great straight away. Recommended!
