ALABAMA BLUES REVISITED sees more remixes of St. Germain’s track, including an edit of Todd Edwards’ mix from the other disc. But Ashley Beedle’s “Black Science Orchestra Philly Phunk Edit” goes for some jazzy breaks with a nice thick bassline to the speakers rumbling. Wax Doctor takes the track into the atmosphere—with his airy drum ‘n’ bass styling, of course.referencing Alabama Blues (CD, Maxi-Single) F 030CD
On ALABAMA BLUES, we get the original (which originally appeared on St. Germain’s MOTHERLAND EP), a smooth house track which incorporates a blues vocal sample with lush synths. The “1965 Mix” goes deeper, keeping the lyrical snippets to a light dusting. But Todd Edwards takes primary remixing duties: his “Vocal Mix” dives headfirst into his cut-up garage style, bringing the energy of the track up immediately, while his “Dub Mix” is pretty much a Todd Edwards track (replete with Jesus shout-out!) with only a touch of the original sample to remind the listener of the mix.- So hard to comment St Germain ?? ... This rekurd, not so hard !! I got this for the "Soul Salsa Soul (Remix)" ... And I got all "St Germain" because them are guud !! // Tommy

My sister spilt candle wax on this whilst trying to light a cigarette over the decks at a party in Camden whilst it was playin! We also blew a speaker and and the police came to temporarily calm it all down. All in all, what you would class as a thoroughly good night. Wax still on wax 20 years on but you can always hear the quality shining through regardless. referencing Alabama Blues (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) F 030
fantastic piece of old style funky house always was a floor filler for me.referencing Alabama Blues (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) F 030
This is a great, very signature St. Germain release. Side a goes very deep, while side b keeps it more upbeat. If Side a is about the bass, then side b is more about the treble, if you know what I mean. The vocals are incredible, very catchy and instantly recognisable as this seminal St. Germain track. The songs on this 12" are a great mix of both Boulevard and Tourist styles.
For djs this track is perfect. Both cuts on side a have the vocals starting the track almost acapella. The crescendo is really well done and from there the track just rolls on out.
Classic french house.- Edited 20 years agoThe version of the brilliant Paul Saunders (the man of the seminal, sophisticated and dark elements) for this classic is really worthy of mentioning. With lovely synth timbers and sweet pianos, the track has also fine windy effects and, of course, Wax Doctor's typical atmospheric touch. A real spot of ground for the World of break beats, and specially Drum & Bass. It seems that Saunders changed his artistic directions and became a painter for quite some time now - if it's true, I'm sure he must have kept the same philosophy on his paintings...
