referencing Maurice Ravel Plays Ravel, LP, MK 1824

I purchased this release in hope of it being an exclusively piano played version. Luckily my expectations were correct. Music wise I do feel like this could have been played less hastily like. Im used to a slower pace and more clean like play. To comment on the sound however, the pressing is not the best. I bought an unopened copy since 1976 and it looked beautifully shiny black and clean once I took it out. But the surface noise was sadly still quite distracting. (Perhaps mine is also extremely static). With a less well kept copy I can imagine it being almost unbearable. Especially when the recorded music is so low, requiring you to raise the volume, in turn making the surface noise more audioable. It might just be that the recording itself was sub par and picked up a lot of static noise, either way its bad. Not a horrible release if you can get it clean, but I would hope to find better.

Update:
Even after high end cleaning with an Okki Nokki and Lart Du Son fluid the record is still just as noisy. A cartridge change didnt seem to help either. I suggest looking at a US original instead.
