John Lee Hooker – Travelin'

1968 Vee Jay has strong, direct, and powerful mono sound. Only the slightest bit of crackle between tracks followed by explosive clean blues. Great album!

I have loved this record since I heard it on lousy MP3 files 25 years ago. Since then I've heard a couple more versions, and this one is head and shoulders above the others, although I never heard an original. To me it's more than good enough in this package; it's a very engaging release that sucks you into the music and keeps your attention to it, an almost intense listening experience. Really well done, VMP, music, pressing, and packaging wise. 10/10.

Yeh this is exceptional. JLH's voice coming through with just the right amount of echo. Drums sound nice and tight in the mix.

Yes... this is clearly a STEREO record. There is no mention of it being mono or stereo on the jacket or the label. I turned it with this in mind. It is clearly STEREO!

I'm not much of a fan of the blue swirl, however the excellent sound quality more than makes up for this

I don't think that fashionable colored vinyl suits classic blues records. It's a bit tasteless IMO.

Fantastic version:

1.) Sounds great - no suprise when Kevin Gray is on the lathe, cutting direct from the tape.
2.) Looks greats - very nice swirly vinyl.
3.) Feels great - nice heavy tip-on jacket.

my sweet fuck i love JLH. hits good ... sound quality is excellent, though my tone arm strangely hangs left and right the whole way through, like the pressing was/is uneven. haven’t seen that before. again, regardless, beautiful press.
