Kinda strange that nobody is noticing that there is almost 0 low end in the track "Psychophenetic". If it had low end; it was a gem for sure as people discribing in these notes under this release. But it almost has now bass so for me kinda dissapointing. I think it's a live-recording and they forgot to power up the basslines... a shame. The other one on the A-side is great ! That DJ DAG remix is also great stuff. Formaldehyd never dissapoints me. I found more gems on this label ... typical 90's german sound. Like how I love it. - Edited 13 years ago

Sychophantasy is an epic building trancer of high quality, typical of quality German releases of the time. The stand out track for sure and arguably one of the best Formaldehyd releases. Psychophenetic is a much spikier track with a strangled 303 riff over a phrenetic drumline. It sounds a bit disjointed and is fairly repetitive, a 4 minute version would have worked just as well. The remix of Requiem is the better b-side, and whilst it's certainly formulaic and nicks bits from other tracks, including the main hook, it's a fine example of an uplifting trance track. Innovative it is not, but bringing all these parts together makes it one fine tune and much better than the original version. referencing Sychophantasy (12") FORM 017
A very good, but overlooked old school trance journey. The logo side track builds to a captivating symphonic lead melody with additional acid bleeps and dreamy layers floating throughout the background.
B1 is an undiscovered gem in my book. Eleven minutes of hypnotic trance – and no more. Starting out kind of minimal, fairly quickly it introduces a mesmerizing trippy acid line (one of those you just don’t want to end), which in no time gets acquainted with a mellow, lush trancey lead, and both lift you up to a faraway place.
Ace stuff – proper old school stuff to get completely lost to.
Unfortunately, the last track is a horrendous miss. It starts out with those tom toms used on Da Hool’s once highly venerated Meet Her At The Love Parade, and then graces us with the cheesiest, heart tearing Bonzai like melody of them all. I’m sure this one had its followers back in the day, and some nostalgic souls may still find it chance worthy, but after hearing Psychophenetic, this one comes across as redundant.
Old schoolers, in search of that diamond in the rough, give this one a shot.
