St Germain – Boulevard (The Complete Series)

Buenísimo sonido, muy buen prensado, sin ruidos. El disco es fabuloso.

St. Germain’s BOULEVARD remains a seminal house album, a sultry fusion of house and jazz that still holds up today. From the first few keys of “Deep In It,” we hear the cool jazz slide swiftly seamlessly into the beat, and the vibraphone keeps ringing throughout. But “Thank U Mum (4 Everything You Did)” takes its sweet time, letting the vocal sample and bassline linger for a full third of the track before the keys chime in and the beat kicks, allowing room for the vocals to hang in the space, buoyed by the harmonica. A slow groove keeps the slinky “Street Scene (4 Shazz)” shuffling for its 15 minute run time, as different instruments come to take over: a soulful flute, a few piano chords, a saxophone, an electric bass. “Easy To Remember,” though, gets down to business immediately with its smoky saxophone, double bass, and mournful spoken word sample. “Sentimental Mood” stays more upbeat throughout, and “What’s New” offers a snapshot of the house scene in 1996 with an informational spoken word. Things slow down considerably with “Dub Experience II,” which stays true to its name, but it’s “Forget It’ that closes out the album on a slower, funky note which you won’t forget. Once you’ve heard it once, you’ll stroll down this boulevard for years to come.

Anybody know where to find the original, 15 minute version of Street Scene on vinyl? Bootlegs, white labels, anything? Hit me up if anybody knows!

OMG, I somehow forgot how beautiful this album is.. Such a good mix of mainly deep house grooves with jazz brass! Some good downtempo tunes on here too! 10/10

Masterpiece! Want this so bad. Don´t know how this is even existing but im glad it is.

There are apparently two versions of the repress. The first one is EU - 2006, the other one is 2012 (listed here). Does anyone have the 2006 version? All the stores are offering it for much lower price. I'm wondering why. Thanks!

Absolute classic ! My only regret is the presence of the Jazz-Hop Remix of "Street Scene (4 Shazz)" - I love way much more the original version of the track (which can be found in its full version only on CD)....

Completely flawless, clear pressing. Wonderful. Lovely jazzy and deep tracks for primarly laying back. "What's New" is the one for me to dance to.
