Fleetwood Mac – Kiln House

Underrated cut. Could we assign a year to this pressing?

One of the great 70's album covers - well done C McV. Great music as well.

The first US issue of this cassette had "Reprise Records a Division of Warner Bros. Records Inc." on the tape labels, plus "Mfd. in Elk Grove Village, Ill, U.S.A. By Ampex" right beneath... The second printing of this issue had no manufacturer information on the labels at all except for retaining the Reprise logo. The J-cards on both versions are identical.
Although they could conceivably have been issued at the same time , in two different facilities, it's more probable that WB chose to omit all company information as they were in the middle of being acquired or merged into what would become WEA corp..

Is this pressing supposed to come with an inner sleeve/insert like this pressing does?

Because mine came with a generic poly-lined one. If it is then there should be pictures of it.

Later Canadian issue. First release has a different cart style and a reprise records band along the right side of the label.

I agree it's a bit odd in that it is a hybrid record of sorts. The first without Peter Green at the helm, absent are all of the blues-based numbers found on earlier LPs, especially the first two issued on the Epic label. Without Peter, the band is a bit rudderless. And in place of the blues, we have two of Danny Kirwan's best songs: the fantastic "Station Man" (co-written by Spencer and McVie) and the equally good "Tell Me All the Things You Do." These two cuts alone are worth the price of admission, and another noteworthy Kirwan tune is "Earl Gray." Supplementing these standouts we find an odd collection of early 60's Buddy Holly/Carl Perkins soundalikes (suggested and/or written by Jeremy Spencer), one (bad!) pure country crooner, and a couple other passable "deep cuts." I find the concoction interesting and enjoyable. Take out the horrible "Blood on the Floor" and add a minute each to "Station Man" and "Tell Me..." and then we have a real standout!

Sometimes it feels like a tongue-in-cheek, yet loving send-up to 50s rock. Is this Fleetwood Mac's The Mothers - Cruising With Ruben & The Jets?

This is a mid-70s re-issue, based on similarity to later albums, I would say probably 1976.

I used to have a copy of this when it was new - long since sold on. It was one side of Fleetwood Mac (side 2, IIRC) and one side of something completely different. I came here out of curiosity to see if this oddity was documented. Anyone know about it? I hope not to learn that it is worth thousands.

An unfairly overlooked album in their large and excellent catalogue. Sure, it's post Peter Green & pre Buckingham/Nicks, but Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan deliver on this one. "Station Man" is one of their best tunes ever, "Jewel Eyed Judy" is killer & "Earl Gray" is for me an eternal top tune. Honestly, there's not a bad song on the whole record. If you like these guys, don't pass this one by.
