Fleetwood Mac – Mr. Wonderful

A hurried second album recorded "live" in the studio finds the Mac in a holding pattern on a somewhat blues by numbers LP w/ some throwaway slide numbers but smoke some hootch, settle back and hang in to hear some great Peter Green guitar.
Not a classic but get it for the superb highlights.

There is one thing I don't understand: if this album is credited to Freetwood Mac, why is Then Play On mentioned as the band's first album?

Really bad pressing. Noise and distortion ruin this great record.

Is this a true mono mix or a fold-down? It seems to be the only time a mono mix was offered.

Again, solid Blues Rock from Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. For their second album, they added some horns and keyboard, and this works OK on a couple of tunes giving more of a R&B/Stax like sound. "Love That Burns" is possibly my favourite tune by Fleetwood Mac, and I would get this album for that song alone, however, like their début, whilst there's good stuff here (again the better tunes are those penned by Green), there are also some issues. Firstly, the production sounds a little muffled, almost sounds like good quality 78s. The second issue is the material. Having opted to cover two Elmore James tunes which share the same riff ("Dust My Broom" & "Coming Home"), they shouldn't then have added two self penned tunes which also have the same riff - four songs with the same riff, please what's all that about! All of them are OK, but they should have just chosen one for the album.
