Great quality for a great price on this record. Wow this reissue sounds good. The intimacy of the performance is exceptional. The detail is amazing You can hear air blow into the mic and people coughing in the audience and cameras going off. And Neil's voice is mic'd perfectly to where the tones in his voice come through rich and warm and very natural sounding. Bright acoustic notes. Great spacious soundstage as well. Record is pressed dead quiet, absolutely no surface noise, such a clean sounding recording. Happy to have this nice Pallas 180g press in my collection, comes in thick tip-on gatefold with polylined sleeves. 9/10.

This is essential, live Neil Young of the highest caliber. Hard to think of a more captivating and passionate performance ever committed to tape, especially as it’s just one lovestruck and inspiried 25 year old dude with an acoustic guitar, harmonica, piano and a lot of back pain (he was suffering from a slipped disc back injury).
Neil’s longtime producer, David Briggs, wanted Neil to release this live album (which contained mostly brand new unrecorded/unreleased songs at that time) back in 1971 but instead Neil shelved it and went to Nashville to record Harvest, which became his first number one album (and first number one single, Heart of Gold) on the charts and the biggest album of Neil’s career and Briggs still felt Massey Hall should’ve been put out instead. Years later, Neil agrees it should’ve come out between After The Gold Rush and Harvest.
I have no qualms saying Massey Hall is one of the greatest live albums ever. This vinyl pressing (and the CDs) sound incredible. Solo acoustic Neil Young in top form.

This is Neil Young ,arguably, at his creative peak. Recorded between After the Gold Rush and Harvest, acoustic and beautifully raw, this is the real deal. No overdubs, no studio trickery, heart on his sleeve, Youngs talent is stripped bare and put on display. One of the few great singer songwriters to maintain their integrity over the last 5 decades. This CD gives us an insight as to why. Respect to Mr.Soul himself - A true legend. Awesome.
