Notes
Pop Will Eat Itself's partially "Watchmen"-themed release: many of the lyrics are dialogue and lines directly appropriated from the classic mid-1980s graphic novel. The various mixes feature samples from "The Twilight Zone" TV show, "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by The Stooges, and "Funky Town" by Lipps Inc.
"Def Con One" was first issued on Chapter 22 as a single (approx. 3:44) prior to RCA signing the band. It was redone for the "This Is The Day...This Is The Hour...This Is This!" LP (aka "Def Con One 1989AD") (approx. 4:00, but the LP incorrectly says 4:39); the original 12" version from the Def.Con One 12" is 4:39. This extended mix wasn't on the concurrent CD single (the band's first single to also be released on CD), and first appeared on CD as "Pop Will Eat Itself At Def Con One" on Castle Music's 2003 UK/US CD "Box Frenzy" reissues (due to it pre-dating RCA); however, it does not feature in Cherry Red's 2011 PWEI Remastered And Expanded Reissues campaign - although "Def Con One (The Doomsday Powermix)" (5:58) does.
