Just bumped into this curiosity: Dallas 4 PM sounds like it really heavily borrows from (but not samples) Savage Monkey by Dave Davis (beautiful track btw) on Bonzai. I wonder what the deal is with that?

Obsession and Close To You are in mono when comparing to the official videos of the same tracks on Black Hole's youtube channel. I thought Obsession sounded rather dull to the rest of the album, it is completely ruined by not being Stereo once you compare mono to stereo. It may be a difference many won't notice but for an official release that is not good enough. It's clear from the intro and throughout that Obsession is in mono. Close To You sounds dull too comparing with the stereo, the rest of CD1 is all likely stereo in fact I'm 100% sure it is.

I have 2 copies. C1/C2 missing, two A1/A2 vinyls. I think something went wrong in the vinyl factory.

For a first release its pretty damm good, one of the few Tiesto albums that can really fit within Trance genre. Not so good as "Just be", nevertheless "in my memory" is a very satisfying released filled with musics that will tell you stories about travelling, love, Future and science fiction. I only wish that "Suburbain train" could be the vocal version. what i can say more is that this release is suitable for dancefloors and to relax.

DJ Tiesto was the world's number 1 DJ for 5 years in a row (2002 through 2007). His music has always left a great impact on trance and electronic music lovers. It is so different and so refreshing that one can name a totally different genre as "Tiesto Trance" for his music. Being a trance music follower from the past 8 years, I have seen the difference in the kind of music that Tiesto always comes up with. I came across this album in 2003, which was 2 years after its release, and the first time I heard it, I was left in awe and totally submerged in his music before I knew it.

Tiesto came out with this album 'In My Memory' in November 2001, as his debut solo album, labeled broadly under the Melodic/Uplifting Vocal Trance genre. This was the time when he was rated the most promising and upcoming DJ in world trance music and was on a rise. Originally from Holland, the land of electronic music, DJ Tiesto has always surprised the world with his varied music styles. And with this album, he doesn't fail to live up to what he is known for by tracks which makes one pumped with energy and then those tracks which are more on the soother part. Be it a slow track or an upbeat number, Tiesto has done it all brilliantly. This album comes with 8 tracks namely Magik Journey, Battleship Grey, Dallas 4pm , In My Memory , Obsession, Lethal Industry, Flight 643, Suburban Train and Close To You. It is very difficult to point out the best songs out of the whole album as the every track carries something of its own. The most popular tracks are Lethal Industry, Flight643, Suburban Train, Magik Journey and Close To You. The CD kicks off with a more epic-like intro with 'Magik Journey' which is built up slowly and beautifully into the melody of the sublime tune and tells a lot about this album by the way this slow intro transforms into an exciting beat-driven track. Towards the end, this track melts perfectly into the following track 'Battleship Grey' which is a 'trip-hop' kind of feel to it.

'Suburban Train', a non-vocal track, starts off with a very intense tune and kicks off with bass beats. The song is a perfect example of how a 16-beat track should be progressed and then integrated with the main tune, which makes this song seem just too perfect to go out of notice. This song pumps up the 'trance energy' and before you can realize, you are totally into it. This song shows the skills this great artist has and how his music stands out incomparable to any other. This 8 minute 24 second track takes you from a zero level to that pure high of music, keeps you there and goes back and forth again. There is this thing about this track which inspires and fits into every mood and makes me listen to it again and again, continuously and I don't even feel the monotony. It's the simplicity and awesomeness about the track which makes me humming the tune every time. Even after being someone who always keeps listening to new music, this track features in all of my playlists. 'Suburban Train' is a true masterpiece by the 'GOD' of melodic uplifting vocal trance.

'Close To You' is one of the smoother tracks with a great female vocals and lyrics. The song continues to be in a same rhythm throughout and is supported with a great tune and beats. 'Flight643' and 'Lethal Industry' took the club music scene by storm. It was a totally new set of tunes and beats used by Tiesto in these tracks. These tracks became popular because of the way they suddenly grow up and the way the buildup reaches the main tune and maintains that level. Lethal Industry and Flight643 made to the Europe top 10 and stayed there for a record breaking time. Moreover, these 2 tracks were featured by many artists for remixes and variations. 'In My Memory' is another soothing vocal track with female vocals to it. This track further adds to the variety of the music that tiesto has come up with in this album. Like his other tracks, this track is backed up with a good tune as well as beats which are built up to perfection. The other 2 tracks, 'Dallas 4PM' and 'Obsession' are also worth the mention because of the progression of the track, which is unlike any other track from the album. All the tracks from the album follow a varied pattern and this, really adds up to their originality. With the success of this album, Tiesto officially made an entry into the World Music charts and started going global rather than being popular only in the European nations where trance is more popular than any other genre.

To sum it up, this album is worth a buy and I am very sure that you like, if not all, most of the tracks from this album as it just suits many different kinds of music tastes. This album has something for everyone and can be played and tuned into anywhere, a club or in the car or anywhere. So, just Buy the album and get ready to listen to the freshest and most exciting uplifting trance music.

I'm not at all subjugated by Tiësto's classic releases as "Flight 643", "Suburban Train" or "Lethal Industry" which cruelly lack of personality (though, when you really get into "Flight 643", you have a good techno time).

On the other side, I'm totally fond of the album mix of the song "In My Memory": the beginning à la Paul van Dyk, the deep trance feeling à la Delerium remixed by Tiësto, this is in my view much more uplifting than other mixes from this song we usually hear (though, even Tiësto seems to think this version is not the best one...)

The savourlicious Easter egg here is "Dallas 4 pm" : put it volume to the max in your headphones and you'll get one of the most exciting dumb progressive trips of your life !

You know I could be very wrong, but I really think that within DJ Tiesto's soul resides a musician, who although is writing and mixing the best trance music around these days -has so much more scope to write songs that belong to no classification (such as BT, Hybrid). The title track of this CD with the etheral voice of Kirsty Hawkshaw is absolutely fantastic! It sounds like Dido's third album might, if she turns away from the pop star idolitary! This is not trance, it is beautifully crafted music! Jan Johnston's contribution "close to you" is almost equally enthralling - in fact if he wrote a CD with his style and their voices - we would have a true classic in our midst! That aside, if pure trance is your cup of tea, this CD will not disappoint! Highlights include the opening "Magik journey" and of course the club classic "Urban Train". Tiesto is still relatively unknown, but he is teaching a few of his contemporaries this..........if you want to churn out the same old stuff CD after CD you will fade to oblivion - if you want to reach the top of the pile you produce more CD's such as this! End of the day it is not genres such as "trance" that make you, it is your music!! Listen to Battleship Grey and judge for yourselves! Beautiful. his best CD to date.
