As everyone says, the volume is very low on this particular pressing. Great album, but avoid this pressing.

Everything about this one is great. Don't ever buy Plain Recordings, get the original ones even if it's more.

Hi, I'd like to clear a few things up for people trying to get this on vinyl.

Of course, you're completely safe with the original pressing, but the Plain Recordings repress is garbage. The sound quality is quite bad, and Platypus is left off entirely(!!!). Platypus is also left off of a few different represses, but other represses take after the Warner Bros.' older repress and include Platypus as a 7-inch.

To add to the confusion, I notice a large amount of sellers selling the 12-inches of these re-issues and explicitly stating that the 7-inch is missing. DO NOT BUY IF THIS IS THE CASE! You would NOT be receiving a complete version of the album.

Be careful out there!

DO NOT buy this pressing from Plain Recordings... Just as other users have said, an amazing album but the sound is just terrible. Huge let down... Unluckily, I blindly bought their 3 releases under this pressing, and the 3 are just as bad, no wonder they were cheap. If you just want to have an object that spins... Buy this. But if you are here for the music, stay with the CD's or older pressings!

Another bad review for this pressing. I didn't believe everyone and got it anyway. I should have listened. Plus "Platypus" isn't on here.

As other people have noted, it sounds pretty bad. Actually, I got an original pressing when it first came out and it sounded just as terrible. Honestly there is just too much music on each side plus the hidden track plus all the intense volume changes equals this is always going to sound pretty bad on vinyl unless they do a major remix / remaster and spread it out over two LPs. On the other hand it's a Mr. Bungle album. Just pretend the noise is how it's supposed to sound. I've had 2 different crappy pressings and am not going to bother getting another.

Does this one have the secret song on side A, hidden or simply following carry stress?

A monumental album that has a little bit of everything with a dark, twisted silliness throughout. Can't believe I found a sealed 1995 pressing. First time I've had to hunt for a hidden track. It's a little low in volume, but sounds great. So much better than the Plain Recordings version.

This vinyl does sound very good, but it would sound much better if they had split it over two LPs like the first album and cut at 45rpm. Apparently 2015 will bring "band authorised" vinyl pressings of all their albums so hopefully we'll get better then.
5 stars for the album, absolutely incredible. after a while of not listening I am reminded just what a masterpiece this one is.
the reason I gave this release 4 stars is that they did not give us the Platypus/SCTrio 7" and that "secret song" is included after the third track, like the CD release, as opposed to being on a hidden groove like the original. hopefully they'll play that little trick again on the next pressing.
My copy was a little warped, but this is probably not that common as it's thick vinyl (clear is obviously less durable and prone to warping).
The master is quiet, but it has to be with this album due to the dynamic peaks like the noise section at the end of "The Bends". If the vinyl was mastered louder then these parts would distort hideously. I never heard the Plain Recordings version but apparently that was much worse. I get a little surface noise which would not be heard if the amp wasn't up that bit louder due to it being a rather quiet album. People will notice that even the CD was quite quiet, for the same obvious reasons.
Worth buying, but I expect the 2015 pressings will be better.
