      Review by Juno Records:

The admirable Discos Transgenero label has been responsible for reissuing some thrillingly interesting and obscure "counter-cultural objects" (as they put it) since launching in 2017. Here's another: a fresh pressing of Spanish experimentalist Javier Sanchez Gonzalez's first outing as Jabir, 1988's Vuelo Por Las Alturas De Alhambra. The sought-after record is a truly unique affair, with Sanchez Gonzalez delivering "fourth world" style pieces crafted using a combination of lo-fi analogue synthesizers, effects units, modified electric instruments and more traditional acoustic instrumentation. Musically, there are traditional Spanish themes and nods towards regional music on the Iberian Peninsula, but also plenty of spacey synth sounds, unusual effects, quirky mix-downs and hard-to-pigeonhole fusions. It's genuinely brilliant, even if describing it accurately is nigh on impossible.

Odd sort of eastern sounding synth music complete with woodwind and string instruments. Comes across lo-fi and DIY-ish still very exotic and esoterically listenable. I wonder IF Jabir or whomever is behind the project will release this on a proper cd one day. Def. a relic in the synth/diy instrumental microcosm....
