Reviews
- what would the handwritten letter X indicate/designate, in the limited editions number field? thanks.
- It would not be wrong to say that this is my favourite album of all time. The complete Plugged Nickel, specifically, because you can really hear what's happening in the band, night after night. You really hear what their process was! And it sits in a sweet spot between the "standards" material this band played before Wayne was in the band, and the actual Wayne albums, which were done in studio and were more "perfect" and tight, you know? This box set is kind of like "the best of" Miles and his bands, if you had to average it all out. And Wayne is mind-blowing on some tracks, like on disc 2a.
By the way, I bought this when it came out in the 90s, in Canada, and I'm so sorry that I threw away the shrink wrap that came on it, because there was a hilarious hype sticker on it, proudly advertising that on the 8 CDs there were 8 different songs haha. Like, they had played each song for a total of at least an hour! Does anyone still have this sticker?? I would love to see what it actually said, again... referencing Complete Live At Plugged Nickel 1965 (7×CD, Compilation, Remastered, Box Set, ) SRCS 5766~5772
"Edited version. This version comes from the Two-Track master tape."
Couple questions:
Comes from 2 track tape vs...what? Multi track tape? In other words, this release is from a premixed two track (stereo, one would assume?) when multi tracks are/were available? Or could it be, vs a mono master tape?
What exactly was edited? I am assuming the set that spanned two cds on the original release was boiled down onto one?
Sorry I don't know more of the history of this set, I have a copy of the original Vol 1 from Japan that I bought back in the 70s I think but would like to get more from the sessions if I can. I always loved the original even though it was far from what I typically listened to back then. I basically bought it for the purported better pressing and sound quality of a Japanese record, think I bought it in Japantown San Francisco at this little magazine shop I used to go to. But I loved it from its first play. Thanks for any light, appreciate it.
jb- Beautiful box. Much nicer than the USA issue. Then again the music is the most important thing here!!!
- I can not detect any significant difference, let alone improvement in sound quality between this vinyl set and the contemporary cd set. I assume this was cut from the same digital files?
