Dokken – Breakin' The Chains

I bought the cassette on release in 1980 whatever year it was. I was in HS still…..No clue who they were and liked the cover and was blown away.

Favorite Dokken album. That sweet spot right before the genre received higher production budgets.

Very very good. Almost perfect. Some filler.
This is where Lynch virtuosity and Dokken's piercing vocals started to work at full (length) speed \m/

Which one is the best version that sounds the best!

Looks like a re-press was done with corrected labels on the disc but leftover jackets from the first pressing were used for the packaging. Note that the first miss-spelt labels on the disc were red and the second corrected ones were orange.

Sounds excellent to my ear. Clear across the spectrum, no flaws. Bass are ok. Really good.

BEWARE!!!!!!!! I have no idea if it's solely my copy or if it's an actual pressing issue, butttttt my side two run-out grooves bring the needle up onto the label. I mean, it literally drove the stylus to jump on top of the label, causing a horrible scratching sound. It may just be my copy, but you might want to take care until you determine if your copy has this problem or not.

So killer... The title track is enough but this first Dokken album is a real gem. They'd refine their sound later but there's something about this. Recc'd.

Love the hair bands from the 80's. Solid album from start to finish with the live cut at the end nicely produced. With the system im currently playing this on, it's a bit heavy on the bottom end and mids but sounds nice to me, for a cassette.

On my copy, the FRM number, the barcode printed on LP sleeve and the matrix/runout match this edition. The outer plastic protective sleeve barcode number is 8 29421 62290 7. Instead of the gold disc, I found the red translucent disc inside. I can't claim it's https://www.discogs.com/release/16418355-Dokken-Breaking-The-Chains because I don't see that FRM number anywhere in this packaging.

In any case, this is a great pressing. It sounds better than what I remember my original sounding like.
